Jeremiah 23- Righteous Branch

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Jeremiah 23:5-6

Behold , The Days are Coming! For hundreds of years Israel waited for their coming Messiah, and that day came when Jesus Christ was born in a manger. Think about that, the event of the Nativity was the fulfillment of many prophecies throughout time.

A righteous Branch and a King shall reign and prosper. When we think about a Branch, it grows or come forth from the trunk of the tree. This is in reference to the incarnation of Christ. Jesus Christ became a man through the nation of Israel, born of a Virgin, conceived by the Holy Spirit. Being fully God and fully man, Christ has come to save the world from their sins, and establish his throne as King of all Kings and Lord of all Lords

The King shall reign and prosper and shall execute judgment and justice on the Earth. The Messiah didn’t just come to save Israel, the prophecy foretells for the entire Earth. Jesus is the Light of the Gentiles (Luke 2:32)

In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. Isaiah 4:2

The prophet Isaiah as called the Messiah , the Branch of The Lord (Yahweh), again another reference to the Incarnation of Christ (Isaiah 7:14) and notice it says the “fruit of the Earth”, Christ is not just the fruit of Israel, Christ is bringing the fruit to the world. What is the fruit? The gospel to the entire world, Christ died, Christ is Risen, and Christ will come again

Quoting Jeremiah again, The King Shall Reign (Jeremiah 23:5) Jesus Christ, the righteous branch, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords is reigning on his throne seated at the right hand of God the Father. Glory to the newborn King! Amen!

Holy Week- Monday-Cleansing The Temple

And He began to teach and say to them, “Is it not written, ‘MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL THE NATIONS ‘? But you have made it a ROBBERS’ DEN.” Mark 11:17

One of the most overlooked events , I believe ,is the cleansing of The Temple. Now this wasn’t a one time event, as Jesus cleansed the Temple at the beginning of his ministry (John 2) and he also cleansed it at the ending of his ministry (Mark 11). What was the significance? What was Jesus trying to teach us here?

First you need to understand what the Temple was and its purpose. The Temple was the only place on Earth where Gods presence existed at this time. If you wanted to worship God, you needed to come to the Temple. The Temple was the only place where the atonement of your sins could take place. If you wanted to make atonement for your sins, you needed to come to the Temple. The Temple was where the High Priests lived, you couldn’t receive atonement or come into the presence of God without the High Priest.

Jesus fulfilled all of this at the cross. The Temple was a foreshadow of Christ to come! Jesus said he would Destroy this Temple in 3 days and then raise it Up (John 2:19) He was talking about himself, his death and resurrection! Jesus fulfilled The Temple, Jesus is our atoning sacrifice, Jesus is our High Priest!

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19

Jesus was cleansing the physical Temple from sin as an example to cleanse our temples from sin. The Temple of God in Israel had become corrupted, they used it more like a marketplace to make money than a house of worship, does this sound familiar with our Churches today? Jesus was making a statement, we need to worship God in Spirit and Truth (John 4:24)

When you become Born Again, your body is now the Temple of God, the Holy Spirit lives inside of you! God does not tolerate sin in the Lords House as he doesn’t tolerate sin in your body! Cleanse your temple! Amen!

Cleansing The Temple

First you need to understand what the Temple was and its purpose. The Temple was the only place on Earth where Gods prescience existed at this time. If you wanted to worship God, you needed to come to the Temple. The Temple was the only place where the atonement of your sins could take place. If you wanted to make atonement for your sins, you needed to come to the Temple. New Covenant

“Behold, days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, Jeremiah 31:31

Ever since the “Old Covenant” God has promised to deliver a “New Covenant”. In order for God to create a New Covenant he needs to fulfill or complete the Old Covenant.

Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. Matthew 5:17

Jesus fulfilled the Old Covenant, he needed to fulfill the Old Covenant in order for there to be a New Covenant.

not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 31:32

Notice God says this “New Covenant” is not going to be like the “Old Covenant” As it says “My covenant which they broke”. Time after time Israel broke the vows of the Old Covenant with God by practicing idolatry with false gods and practicing immorality

But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the LORD, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Jeremiah 31:33

So will say “How can we live morally if we are no longer under the law”? God says he will put his law in our hearts. Meaning through Christ we become baptized by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives inside us to sanctify us and convict us of our sins.

And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. Luke 22:20

Jesus declared by the shedding of his blood, the New Covenant has been established. Come to Jesus and be set free from sin and death Amen!

Beginning of Wisdom

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10
What does this scripture mean to you? How can wisdom come from fear? How can understanding come from knowledge?
When people don’t acknowledge the greatness of God or his abilities, they become fools. As it says in Romans 1:22 “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,”
People who believe they are greater than their creator; or who believe they can live reckless life with no consequences or authority are simply fools.
As God said in Jeremiah 4:22 My people are fools; they do not know me. They are senseless children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good.”
When we understand God breathed life into us and made us in his image; he gave us this life as a gift; we then start to obtain the wisdom of his Word in the scriptures. But until you can accept God as your master, you can never accept wisdom or understanding.
You do have a choice though. You have the freedom of free will and you can follow Satan’s path of sin. However when you decide to walk that path you will end up in the same destination as Satan, the Lake of Fire. As it says in Matthew 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
So if you want to know if you or somebody else is really living a Christian lifestyle, check there fruit. Are you producing good fruit? Is your family broken or blessed? Is your personal life a mess? Are you drowning in debt? These are a few areas you can check your fruit.
When they say “Fear the Lord” it’s out of respect, honor, and most importantly love. Just as you would “fear” a parent or guardian. It’s not a dictatorship because you have the choice. You can follow Jesus to Eternal life or follow Satan to destruction.
I pray that everyone receives and understand the greatness of God; therefore thru Jesus and the Holy Spirit you can begin to obtain wisdom and knowledge that will lead you to your divine destiny Amen
