Mark 10- Are You A Good Person?

And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Mark 10:17-20

Are you a good person? The majority of people would say “Yes” and believe they will enter Heaven because they are a “good person” However Jesus states “Nobody is good but God” , so do you think you’re still a good person? The Bible tells us “We have all have sinned and fallen short of the glory and God” (Romans 3:) We are all sinners, this is why we all need a Savior , Jesus Christ

Notice also Jesus is declaring He is God, nobody is good but God, Jesus is the sinless Lamb of God. If Jesus isn’t God then he can’t be the atonement for your sins, think about that! How does Jesus respond to the man, he lists the Ten Commandments, why? Because the Law of God is a mirror to show how sinful we are!

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions. Mark 10: 21-22

Jesus said “Ok you want to be my disciple, sell all your stuff, give it to the poor, and follow Me” Notice the response from the rich young ruler, he was sad and walked away, why? Because he loved his life, he loved his money more than he loved Christ

Jesus said “Deny yourself, carry your cross, and follow him” Are you willing to do that? Are you willing to pay the price of being a Christian? Secondly , nobody is a good person, we are all sinners and have transgressed a Holy God, we can only be justified and forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ. Nobody goes to Heaven except through Christ! Amen!

Mark 2- Jesus Friend of Sinners

And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them. And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. Mark 2:13-14

Here we see Jesus calling one of his disciples, Levi, wait who is Levi? Matthew is the greek translation of the name Levi. Its interesting because the name Levi actually derived from the priesthood name of Leviticus. It is possible Matthew came from the Levitical priest line , we don’t really know , but oh how the mighty have fallen

As you know Matthew (Levi) was a tax collector, the most disgraceful occupation an orthodox Jew could possess. Not only did Matthew work for the Roman Empire, but extorted taxes from his own persecuted people. Matthew was viewed as wicked as Caesar himself

But notice what Jesus did, he called this wretched tax collector, and not only provided him salvation, but made him an Apostle! This is the power of the gospel, this is what the blood of Christ can do, bring us alive from our trespasses and give us a new heart and new name!

And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? Mark 2: 15-16

Jesus came to set the captives free! This is a central message of the gospel story, notice it says “many followed him” Jesus took the people society threw away and made them born again! The religious people wouldn’t even associate with these people, but the power of the gospel can transform anyone!

One thing we want to point out, even though Jesus associated with sinners to save them, he never sinned with them! Alot of people like to justify their sinful lifestyle by pointing out Jesus associated with him. Jesus came to call for repentance (Mark 1:15)

When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Mark 2:17

Jesus is the Great Physician, there is no other way to be made well except through Jesus Christ, why? Because we are dead in our sins (Ephesians 1), Jesus is the only one who can make us Born Again (John 3)

If Jesus can save and use a wretched sinner like Matthew, he can save and use you also! Answer your calling and follow Jesus! Amen!

What Is Repentance?

and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:15

The message of Jesus ministry was, “Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand!” The same message was preached by John the Baptist as well as Peter. Today people like to “water down” this message. People get offended when we talk about their sins, therefor they don’t want to talk about repentance.

But can you truly be saved without repentance? Absolutely Not! So what does Repent mean anyway? The original Greek word is “Metanoeite” which means to think differently, a spiritual transformation. Repenting is not just confessing your sins, its changing the way you think and behave about everything

Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

This is what Jesus means by saying become “Born Again” Nicodemus, a religious leader, was perplexed as Jesus made this statement. He said how can someone become physically Born again? Nicodemus misunderstood that this was a spiritual rebirth and not a physical.

So as you see, Repentance and becoming Born Again go hand in hand. To become Spiritually Reborn we need to become transformed in our minds and actions. The original Greek for Born Again is “gennethe anothen”  Gennethe means a regeneration Anothen means New

Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

Repent and become Born Again, this is about making a transformation to follow and live like Jesus Christ. If you are still doing the same things BEFORE you got saved, then you haven’t become Born Again. How is all this possible, its all possible because of the works Jesus Christ has fulfilled on the cross.

Trust in Jesus and allow him to make you a new creation, Repent of your sins and receive the Holy Spirit Amen!

No Longer Slaves

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin- Romans 6:6

When we see pictures of Jesus on the cross, what comes to mind? When you look at Christ on the cross, you should see yourself also. Because Jesus didn’t die for his sins or actions, because he is holy. Christ died for your sins. All of our sins and transgressions has put Jesus on the cross. See when you see Christ on the cross, you should see yourself.

But because Jesus tasted death for us, we are no longer slaves to sin and death. See your old self died on that cross, and when Jesus was resurrected, you were resurrected also. This is why we live and die with Christ. We died with him on the cross and we also rose with him from the tomb. Its through Christ we have victory!

So knowing this, we can only live holy lives. Since you were baptized by the Holy Spirit and raised from the dead, you can’t go back to your old self. The wages of sin are death, and Jesus took the death for you. Therefore you must live a holy life, worth pleasing to your Heavenly Father. So when you see a cross, remember you have already died on it and have been delivered from its wrath through Christ in Jesus Name Amen

Consequences of Sin

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

Many people today are taking sin lightly, they don’t understand not only does sin equal death. But sin also has consequences on you and your family. Yes Jesus died for our sins and he’s willing to forgive them, but you also must strive to live a holy life just like Christ.

Why does God hate sin so much? Because sin equals death. Every sin there is leads to your destruction. Sin comes from Satan and is an act of rebellion against God and his Kingdom.

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. Genesis 3:19

Adam and Eve literally had the perfect life, they were immortal, living in paradise, and everything was provided for them. But they couldn’t resist the temptations of Satan. Even though God warned them it would equal death, they still went ahead with it.

We all have free will, so they had a right to choose whatever they wanted. But there are consequences for there sin and it equaled death. They once had mortality now they will return to dust just as God commanded.

Since we all are descendants of Adam and Eve, we all have inherited this curse of death. You see Adam and Eve’s sin not only effected there life but impacted humanity. This is why we all need Jesus to save us, he is the only way.

Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. Genesis 21:10

Another example is Abraham, he got tired of waiting for God to deliver him his promised son, so he had a child with his servant. This sin not only brought great distress among there family, but he also disobeyed God.

God still delivered his promise and eventually Sarah and Abraham had the promised son of Isaac. But this only caused greater distress among the household and eventually Ishmael and his mother had to leave.

Many believe the prophet Muhammad is a descendant of Ishmael which obviously originated the Islam religion. If this is true, Abraham’s sin of having adultery consequently has impacted the entire world especially his nation of Israel and all Jews and Christians.

There is a reason God forbids sin, and there is a reason why God takes it so seriously. All your sins have consequences that will impact not only you but your family. Jesus is the only one who has ever walked the Earth and never sinned, follow Jesus and break the curse of sin Amen

Higher Standard

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9

When I first heard of the Ashley Madison site being hacked, to be honest I didn’t think much of it because I never even heard of the company. But as the days went on and names were being revealed we soon realized this is a big deal. The sins of many being exposed to the world and the fallout as many families and marriages are destroyed and broken.

And then we come to find out there are even self-proclaimed Christians on this site saying there living a double life.

Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20

So what do we do with all these Christians who claim to be living like Jesus but acting like Satan? Do we continue to give them a pass or is it time to call them out on there transgressions?

I have sadly come across many who call them selves Christians believe they can use Jesus as a free pass to live a sinful life. This is false doctrine. Jesus said Deny Yourself first then carry your cross and follow him. Sin is all about self pleasure, so if your living a sinful lifestyle you never denied yourself to begin with.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14

So many will use the excuse we are all born sinners, therefor I can’t stop sinning. Jesus became human and walked the Earth for over 30 years and never sinned. Do you not think Jesus was tempted?

He showed us that a human could live a righteous life but it takes sacrifice and discipline. We might not be able to be like Jesus but we can strive to be like him. Isn’t that why we call ourselves Christians to have Christ living inside of us?

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:22-23

Make no mistake about it there will be many that prophesied in the name of Jesus and he will reject them. Why? Because they are fake. There mouth is saying one thing while there heart is in another place, you can’t serve two masters. Your either following Jesus or your following Satan, that’s it.

Are people really seeing Jesus living thru you? It’s time we hold ourselves to a higher standard, not of the world’s standard but of Gods standards in Jesus Name Amen

We All Fall Short

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23

We all are sinners and we all fall short, once we realize this then we realize why we need Jesus. He is the only way to heaven and the only way to redeem our sins

But what is sin and where did it come from? Many of us when we sin or fall to the temptation of sin blame God. Just like when Adam ate from the tree of knowledge, he blamed God for sending Eve. We need to learn to take accountability for our sin and sin doesn’t come from God.

Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Genesis 3:7

Before Adam and Eve gained the “Tree of Knowledge” they were naked and never thought anything about it. Once they became corrupted there innocence was lost. God intended us to be innocent and live a holy life without corruption. Satan is the mastermind behind all that is evil and unholy, not God.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:7

Everything that is good comes from God. Satan will try to promise and deceive us in to thinking sin will bring you a better life, but just as he lied to Adam and Eve he’s lying to you. He told Adam and Eve they would become like Gods, instead they became mortal and corrupted. We have inherited the sins of Adam, don’t  be deceived by Satan also.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21

But there is good news, God sent his only begotten Son, who was sinless and became an atonement sacrifice for our sins.  We all need Jesus, he is the only truth, life and the way, follow him to eternal life in Jesus Name Amen

Dead To Sin Alive to God

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?  Romans 6: 1-3

Jesus has paid the price for your sins, does that mean you can now sin with no consequences? Absolutely Not, when you accept Jesus into your heart you become transformed, sin should be repulsive to you.

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Romans 6:4-6

Jesus didn’t die alone on the cross, every single one of us died on that cross also. When Jesus resurrected from the dead, our new selves resurrected also. To deny Christ is death.

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Romans 6:7-8

If you accept Jesus, your “Old Man” died on the cross, you are no longer a slave to sin and death. Your chains have all been broken.  Satan can no longer defeat you.

Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:9-11

We worship the God of the Living and not the dead, this is only possible thru our Lord Jesus Christ. They can kill the body but they can’t kill the soul, you will have eternal life thru Jesus Christ.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:12-14

However the flesh is weak and you are still vulnerable. You must resist evil and temptation, for Satan is like a lion looking to devour you. But thru Christ you have conquered sin and death. Trust in The Lord and he will be your refuge and strength in Jesus name Amen

Obedience of One

For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Romans 5:19

Adam’s sin has impacted us all, because of him there is now disease, sorrow, and death. His mortality has been passed down to all of us and we bear the burden of his disobedience.

However thru the atonement sacrifice of Jesus, he saved us all.  He was without sin and washed us clean. So by Adam sin came death and by Jesus sacrifice came life.

Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: Romans 5:20

Before Jesus fulfilled the law, God delivered the Law to Moses. Although mankind knew what to expect from God, we couldn’t control our sinful and rebellious ways. For we are all sinners and fall short to the Glory of God.

As it says in the book of Revelation, no one was worthy of opening the book of Life (Revelations 5:4) , except one, and that is our Lord Jesus Christ.

That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 5:21

We are slaves to sin, many will try to deny this, but our sins own us. Not only do they control us but they will kill us. There is only one who can break the chains and that is Jesus Christ.

Jesus didn’t come to condemn the world but save it. His mercy and grace is greater than the evils of this world. Because of the sins of Adam, you need Jesus, he is the only one who can make you worthy to stand before God. Give yourself to him today and add your name to the book of life in Jesus name Amen

Worthy is The Lamb

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

Your past was long time ago yet it keeps haunting you every day, but the good news is you’re free from the slavery of your sins thru the blood of the Lamb. You ask how can this be? By Jesus sacrifice on the cross he took the punishment for your sins.

Don’t live every day in shame of your past; you have been transformed by Christ. You old self has passed away, and you were reborn in the blood. It’s time to rejoice for your chains have been broken.

(Leviticus 17:11) “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood thatmaketh an atonement for the soul.”

In order to understand why Jesus had to be sacrificed  on the cross, you need to understand the act of Atonement from the Old Testament.  To be cleansed of your sin before Jesus you needed to sacrifice  animals, but why did God require this?

The reason God wanted man to understand the seriousness of our sins. The wages of sin are death and separation from God. So the only way to redeem themselves for there sins, was to sacrifice an innocent life in their place.

(2 Corinthians 5:21) “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Jesus knew no sin and took our sins for us so we can be redeemed. He was the sacrificial lamb who was slain for you and me. Now that you understand this, you understand how much he loves you. He took the punishment for your sins, worthy is the Lamb.

(Revelations 5:12) Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

By the blood of the Lamb, we are redeemed, we are blessed, we are not condemned anymore. The chains of sin have been broken, sin and death have no hold on us anymore.

Worth is the Lamb , he is worthy of all our praise. Jesus has giving everything to you, it’s time for you to give everything to him also in Jesus name Amen
