What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Romans 6: 1-3
Jesus has paid the price for your sins, does that mean you can now sin with no consequences? Absolutely Not, when you accept Jesus into your heart you become transformed, sin should be repulsive to you.
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Romans 6:4-6
Jesus didn’t die alone on the cross, every single one of us died on that cross also. When Jesus resurrected from the dead, our new selves resurrected also. To deny Christ is death.
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Romans 6:7-8
If you accept Jesus, your “Old Man” died on the cross, you are no longer a slave to sin and death. Your chains have all been broken. Satan can no longer defeat you.
Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:9-11
We worship the God of the Living and not the dead, this is only possible thru our Lord Jesus Christ. They can kill the body but they can’t kill the soul, you will have eternal life thru Jesus Christ.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:12-14
However the flesh is weak and you are still vulnerable. You must resist evil and temptation, for Satan is like a lion looking to devour you. But thru Christ you have conquered sin and death. Trust in The Lord and he will be your refuge and strength in Jesus name Amen
How true the words “sin should be repulsive to you…”! When I came back to my heavenly Father I knew I had changed because memories of the past caused me huge shame. I felt “repulsed” by the sinful actions of the past. But that’s all under the blood now – thanks be to Jesus!! Excellent post. Thank you, my brother – Reuben.
