Happy Thanksgiving

When Jesus went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and He felt compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and He began to teach them many things. When it was already quite late, His disciples came to Him and said, “This place is desolate and it is already quite late; Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat. Mark 6:34-36

As we eat our Thanksgiving feast this year with your family, lets reflect on another large feast that happened. However this had different circumstances. There was about 5,000 people who came to hear Jesus teaching, and it began to get late. These people have traveled far distances with children, and are all very hungry at this point

But He answered them, “You give them something to eat!” And they said to Him, “Shall we go and spend two hundred denarii on bread and give them something to eat?” Mark 6:37

The disciples initial reaction was to send everyone away to get their own food. But notice Jesus response “You give them something to Eat!” The disciples response is “It would take a years salary to feed all these people”, but Jesus knew God would provide

And He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go look!” And when they found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.” And He commanded them all to sit down by groups on the green grass. They sat down in groups of hundreds and of fifties. Mark 6:38-40

Jesus question to the disciples is “What do you got?” They responded he only had 5 loaves and 2 fish, which by our human standard we would say this is impossible to feed 5 thousand people. But Jesus response is “Sit Down”!  Jesus is saying Sit down God has got this!

And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food and broke the loaves and He kept giving them to the disciples to set before them; and He divided up the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied, Mark 6:41-42

Notice Jesus took the food and blessed it! And the little bit of food they had was multiplied, God provides! God took what little food they had to offer and used it to feed the masses!

This Thanksgiving before you eat, remember to Thank God for all he has provided so he can bless what you have to fulfill your needs in Jesus Name Amen!

Thank God

Can we ever truly appreciate anything if we are not thankful? I don’t believe so, its almost like the spoiled rich kid who never had a want, they never appreciated anything because they never had to yearn for anything. And even though they were filled with materialistic desires, they were never satisfied and never thankful

Born Again Christians are thankful for Jesus Christ because they understood they were dead in their sins. We are thankful because we understand that we could never earn our own salvation and we never deserved Gods mercy, but Christ gave us grace anyway

Thank God for everything, for your life, for your family, for the very hairs on your head and the breath in your lungs. Most importantly Thank God for our Lord Jesus Christ! Amen!

The Mystery of Christ

Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, Romans 16:25

The mystery of the coming of the Messiah has been a mystery since the beginning of the world. Think about that, when Christ was creating the world he already was planning on saving the world. God had a redemption plan before you were even born, Satan was already defeated before he even began!

Make notice that even though God had his redemption plan since the beginning, Satan had no clue about this mystery. Throughout history Satan tried to kill the Messiah. He tried to kill Joseph, Moses, David, Elijah, ect. Satan had no clue who God would make the Messiah, and he failed miserably at trying to kill off the sacred line that would produce the Messiah

But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: Romans 16:26

Throughout the scriptures God fortold about the coming of the Messiah. There are over 300 prophecies that were fulfilled by Jesus Christ. Even though Satan had this knowledge he still couldn’t solve the mystery of the Messiah.

Messiah came as nobody would have ever predicted. He was born in a stable, to some poor young couple. He didn’t arrive in a palace from a royal family. He had no worldly wealth or worldly status, however Jesus is God in the flesh who came to save the world

It wasn’t until Jesus willingly laid down his life as the Lamb of God until it was Finished!

Divisions

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. Romans 16:17

As the old saying goes “Divide and conquer”. Satans strategy against the body of Christ is to divide the body of Christ. And if you look at the state of the Church today, hes done a good job. There are over 40,000 different denominations and spinoffs of Christianity. When you go on social media, Christians spend way more time arguing with each other than evangelizing to non-believers and skeptics

Jesus said a kingdom divided will not stand (Mark 3:24) The ironic thing is the Apostle Paul teaches those who are causing division in the Church, get rid of them! As Jesus taught about the Wheat and the Tares (Matthew 13) Satan is going to plan some Tares in your Church. This is why its crucial for a healthy Church to have good leadership.

For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. Romans 16:18

So how do we know who the Wheat and Tares are in the Church? Well Jesus said “They will be known by the Fruit they produce “ (Matthew 7:16) As the Apostle Paul teachers here, there agenda is not to serve Christ but to serve themselves. If somebody is bringing in personal and hidden agendas into the Church, that contradict the Word of God, get rid of them!

The problem today with the Church is we care more about numbers than we do about discipleship. All pastors care about is how many seats are filled rather than who is actually sitting in those seats. The reality is, the Church is the body of Christ that are Born Again Believers , its set Apart from the walking dead

There’s a time to Evangelize and there’s a time for the body to worship together! Don’t allow Satan to corrupt your Church!

Love Your Neighbor

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. Romans 15:1-2

If you have been a Born Again Christian for awhile, you have probably made some mistakes growing through your faith and have been corrected, rebuked, or edified by the Holy Spirit. We need to remember this when we encounter new Christians. They probably don’t know us much scripture as you, they probably haven’t wrestled much with theological ideas, so they are at a different spot in their journey with Christ

We need to remember this and be patient and kind to the entire body of Christ. This can be very difficult at times as we want to “call out” everything we believe Christians are doing wrong. This obviously causes great division among the body quickly, as the Bible states we are to strive to live in peace with everyone

So what can we do? First we should be praying for them, the Holy Spirit is our greatest teacher and can guide anyone to truth. Second we all need to devote time in scripture. If a fellow Christian is behaving in a way that contradicts scripture, then show them the scripture. Let them chew on the scripture and have them come to their conclusion

For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. Romans 15:3

Jesus Christ, our Master, lived a self-sacrificing life. Anything he did was not for his greater good, but for ours. We should live by His example, to show mercy, compassion, and truth. Don’t be a stumbling block for your brothers and sisters. Be strong for them and help them on their path with Christ! Amen!

Every Knee Will Bow

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Romans 14:11

Can you believe what that person just said or what they did? How can they claim to be a Christian? We spend a lot of time worrying about other peoples salvation, guess what Jesus is King and Lord and we are not! Everyone is going to have to face Christ in the end and give an account of their lives! We don’t need to worry about every detail of everybody’s life, they need to worry about that, its called accountability.

That preacher that’s stealing from his congregation, they will need to answer to Jesus. That heretic that knowingly writes false prophecies to mislead people, they will need to answer to Jesus. Every knee will bow to the Lord Jesus, Every knee, not just the save but also the unsaved.

The Atheist will bow down to Jesus, the Muslim will bow down to Jesus, the Buddhist will bow down to Jesus, every knee will one day bow down to Jesus because he is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. These are not just titles given, they are His authority over all of Creation!

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Romans 14:12

Bible says “Everyone” will give an account to God about your life! Not just the unsaved but also the saved. What have you done with your life? Have you lived to serve The Lord or serve yourself? Don’t waste your life in selfish deceit

One day we are going to give an account of our life to the Creator and King, what is Jesus going to say to you?

Fire Is Not Quenched

Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Mark 9:48

Did Jesus speak about Hell? Absolutely, what did he have to say about it? Well here we see he describes Hell as a place their worm will never die and the fire will never be quenched. Sounds like eternal torment to me. What does Jesus mean about their worm?

Well if we look at the orginal Greek the word here is “scolex” which also means gnawing and anguish. So he could be saying your torment will never end. However why do all the English translations say “worm”? Well Jesus is actually quoting the Prophet Isaiah here (Isaiah 66:24) If we look at the original Hebrew for this word “towlatam” which is also translated as “oppressor” and “worm”

For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remainAnd it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD..And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh. Isaiah 66:22-24

When we read Isaiah 66, there is where God is revealing the New Heavens and Earth and also the eternal destination for the unsaved. Because God is revealing his eternal Kingdom we can also assume God is revealing his eternal “Hell” for the wicked

The word quenched translated from Greek and Hebrew means exactly what is says. The Fire will never be extinguished, its an eternal Hell-Fire. Its very clear from these teachings that Jesus and Isaiah were speaking of an Eternal Hell where the weeping and gnashing of teeth would never end!

Glory To Christ

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. Romans 14:5-6

Often there is a lot of divisiveness among Christians because they argue about sacramental things, such as should we worship on the Sabbath or the Lords Day? Should we keep the feast days or should we celebrate Christmas? There’s a lot of good arguments we can come up with to defend all these positions, however as the Apostle Paul is trying to teach here, its about our relationship with Christ.

If your fully persuaded in your mind that keeping the Sabbath is part of your covenant with Christ, then you should do it. Or if your fully persuaded that only worshipping on the Lords Day is part of the New Covenant with Christ, then do that.

For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. Romans 14:7-8

Whatever we do, we do all things for Jesus Christ. So whether we worship on Saturday or Sunday, we should be worshipping for Christ and not ourselves. Technically we should worship everyday, however the point is its not about winning theological arguments, its about our relationship with Jesus Christ

Do what brings honor and glory to Christ, its not about us, its all about Him. Live for Christ! Amen!
