A Greater Thanksgiving

As many Americans gather around the dinner table to have a feast and be “Thankful” to celebrate all the things God has blessed us with, let’s remember there is a “Greater Thanksgiving” that was given and presented to us which is our Lord Jesus Christ

Communion or The Lord’s Supper as we often refer to it, is a foundational sacrament of Christianity as Jesus taught us “Do this in Remembrance of Me” (Luke 22, Mark 14, 1 Corinthians 11) earlier Christianity often referred to Communion as the “Eucharist”. The Eucharist is a word derived from Greek meaning “Thanksgiving”, therefore our Communion is a Thanksgiving to God for the salvation He gave us through our Lord Jesus Christ

Communion in the first century was also often referred to as “Breaking Bread”, you can see this throughout the book of Acts (Acts 2:42, 2:46, 20:11,20:7,27:35) When Christians gathered together to take Communion , it was a feast or meal, it wasn’t a cracker or wafer that the modern Church does today. Christians gathered around the table, had a meal, then had Communion remembering what Christ did for them and His return in the future

So this Thanksgiving, what are you thankful for? Remember the Greater Thanksgiving is our Lord Jesus Christ and what he did for us as the atonement for our sins. Also consider incorporating Communion into your Thanksgiving meal.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving everyone and give Thanks to The Lord!

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42

Happy Thanksgiving

When Jesus went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and He felt compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and He began to teach them many things. When it was already quite late, His disciples came to Him and said, “This place is desolate and it is already quite late; Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat. Mark 6:34-36

As we eat our Thanksgiving feast this year with your family, lets reflect on another large feast that happened. However this had different circumstances. There was about 5,000 people who came to hear Jesus teaching, and it began to get late. These people have traveled far distances with children, and are all very hungry at this point

But He answered them, “You give them something to eat!” And they said to Him, “Shall we go and spend two hundred denarii on bread and give them something to eat?” Mark 6:37

The disciples initial reaction was to send everyone away to get their own food. But notice Jesus response “You give them something to Eat!” The disciples response is “It would take a years salary to feed all these people”, but Jesus knew God would provide

And He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go look!” And when they found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.” And He commanded them all to sit down by groups on the green grass. They sat down in groups of hundreds and of fifties. Mark 6:38-40

Jesus question to the disciples is “What do you got?” They responded he only had 5 loaves and 2 fish, which by our human standard we would say this is impossible to feed 5 thousand people. But Jesus response is “Sit Down”!  Jesus is saying Sit down God has got this!

And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food and broke the loaves and He kept giving them to the disciples to set before them; and He divided up the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied, Mark 6:41-42

Notice Jesus took the food and blessed it! And the little bit of food they had was multiplied, God provides! God took what little food they had to offer and used it to feed the masses!

This Thanksgiving before you eat, remember to Thank God for all he has provided so he can bless what you have to fulfill your needs in Jesus Name Amen!

Thank God

Can we ever truly appreciate anything if we are not thankful? I don’t believe so, its almost like the spoiled rich kid who never had a want, they never appreciated anything because they never had to yearn for anything. And even though they were filled with materialistic desires, they were never satisfied and never thankful

Born Again Christians are thankful for Jesus Christ because they understood they were dead in their sins. We are thankful because we understand that we could never earn our own salvation and we never deserved Gods mercy, but Christ gave us grace anyway

Thank God for everything, for your life, for your family, for the very hairs on your head and the breath in your lungs. Most importantly Thank God for our Lord Jesus Christ! Amen!

Thank God

I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 1:4

Do you remember to Thank God for everything he has already blessed you with? Many times people us prayer as a life line, but prayer should be a constant communication with God. That includes thanking him for all he has done and given you.

For in him you have been enriched in every way–with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge 1 Corinthians 1:5

All blessing come from God, there are no coincidences or random occurrences. True knowledge and wisdom can only be acquired by God thru the Holy Spirit, pray for this wisdom and it will be granted to you.

God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 1 Corinthians 1:6-7

While we eagerly await the return of Jesus, some may feel helpless or hopeless. But know that God has equipped us with the knowledge and strength to endure thru the Holy Spirit.

He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:8-9
Thru Jesus we have been redeemed and are worthy to stand before our Creator. God loved us all enough to sacrifice his son for our atonement. Its only by the blood of Jesus we are worthy.

Have you giving Thanks today to God for all he has giving you? Do you let him know how Thankful you are? If your not Thankful for what he has giving you already, why would you expect him to give you anything more? Praise him and Thank him in Jesus name Amen

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. 2 Corinthians 9:15
What are you thankful for today? Your family? Your health? Your turkey? These are all great gifts from God. But let also remember to be thankful for the greatest gift God gave us all Jesus
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John3:16)
Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice for all of us, we need to always remember this and give thanks daily. Without him there would be no hope for any of us.
As it says in Ephesians 1:16 “Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;” Never stop giving thanks and praise to our Messiah for his love endures forever. Be thankful every day for everything you have been giving and he provided.
Often during the holidays we get stressed out, family disputes, holiday traveling, ect. Let’s remember to focus on the blessing of the moment.
The fact you have a family to share Thanksgiving with is a blessing, let’s Thank God. The fact you have food to feed your family is a blessing. Thank God. You actually have a vehicle to travel, instead of complaining about gas prices, Thank God
I think Paul said it best in Philippians 4:11 “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” Learn to be Thankful and content with the life God has giving you.
So don’t waste this Thanksgiving being stressed out or disputing with you family, rejoice in God and be Thankful for all you have been giving including the love of Jesus Christ. Amen
