New Covenant

“Behold, days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, Jeremiah 31:31

Ever since the “Old Covenant” God has promised to deliver a “New Covenant”. In order for God to create a New Covenant he needs to fulfill or complete the Old Covenant.

Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. Matthew 5:17

Jesus fulfilled the Old Covenant, he needed to fulfill the Old Covenant in order for there to be a New Covenant.

not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 31:32

Notice God says this “New Covenant” is not going to be like the “Old Covenant” As it says “My covenant which they broke”. Time after time Israel broke the vows of the Old Covenant with God by practicing idolatry with false gods and practicing immorality

But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the LORD, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Jeremiah 31:33

So will say “How can we live morally if we are no longer under the law”? God says he will put his law in our hearts. Meaning through Christ we become baptized by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives inside us to sanctify us and convict us of our sins.

And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. Luke 22:20

Jesus declared by the shedding of his blood, the New Covenant has been established. Come to Jesus and be set free from sin and death Amen!

I did not understand the sentence you wrote, “To deny the Old Covenant is to deny Christ” Please explain. I understand Jesus is before all things and is active all thru the old record of God’s dealing with the Jews, but I am a gentile after Acts 15. I don’t even need any of those writings to be a follower of Christ. Old Covenants are obsolete and like any contract that is broken is moot. Mixed covenant religion is wrong on many levels. To insist that Old rules and rituals are relevant for the follower of Christ is to say Jesus is not sufficient for my salvation, life of faith, or walk with God, I must have _________(fill in blank with old agreements). The rule, law, ritual, practice then becomes a mark of a “Christian” and divides the body into denominations. We will answer for these divisions. Reject religion with reverends, rules, rituals and follow Jesus, Love your neighbor, forgive your enemies, wash the feet of your brothers and sisters.

Hey Sonny Thanks for the feedback.. I think what I was saying was unless you understand the Old Covenant you can’t really understand Christ

I probably should have worded that better… and I’m going to remove it to avoid confusion

      God bless!
