Follow God Not Man

But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. Acts 5:29

Peter and the apostles were given strict orders by the religious leaders, stop talking about Jesus or you will be imprisoned or even put to death. For most this would have been an easy decision, keep quiet and save yourself. However the apostles couldn’t keep quiet because they were obeying God and not man

This may seem like a story for the distant past,  but as Christians today we often face the same circumstances. Think about if you just started talking about Jesus on a crowded public street, what reaction would you receive? In todays politically correct world, talking about Jesus is forbidden. How dare we offend the Atheists and the Muslim, and the Hindu, and the Buddhist

Most workplaces and schools today don’t welcome the gospel of Jesus Christ either. If you started preaching to your co-workers, what reaction would you get? Most of them would probably avoid you or  maybe you  would even be fired

So who are you truly obeying, God or society? We need to understand this current world we live in is temporary, and our higher calling is to call people to be saved through Jesus Christ. This mindset wont make you popular or rich, however what does it profit you to gain the whole world and to lose your soul?

Peter and the apostles understood this and faced imprisonment, persecution, and even death. However today they are at home with the Lord because they obeyed God in Jesus Name Amen!

40 Days

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. Matthew 4:1-2

Since this week is the beginning of Lent season, today we are taking a look at the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness. This is symbolic of the 40 days before Easter (Lent  Season) originated. During this journey we see that Jesus was tempted with three temptations that all of us face in our daily lives.

And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”  But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'” Matthew 4:3-4

The first temptation we see is the lust of the flesh. Jesus , who has been fasting for 40 days, is obviously very hungry and vulnerable at this point. Satan tries to tempt him by enticing him to make stones into bread. Jesus replies with scripture and says “Man shall not live on bread alone” meaning as Christians we deny our physical temptations which are sinful, to live holy and be a true disciple of Christ.

This could apply to many physical temptations in our lives such as drugs, alcohol, sexual immorality, gluttony, ect. However by the Holy Spirit we can overcome these temptations and avoid sin

Then the devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU’; and ‘ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.'” Matthew 4:5-6

The second temptation comes from human pride. Satan tries to challenge Jesus, by saying if you are the Son of God, then prove it. Often times in life when our pride is challenged, we might make a bad decision just to prove that we are the boss or in charge. Jesus however didn’t fall for this trap

Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written, ‘YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.'” Matthew 4:7

Satan was even quoting scripture to try and lure Jesus into the temptation, but Jesus responded by saying “Don’t test God”.  Jesus demonstrated this humility also later in John 13, Jesus washed the feet of his own disciples. Instead of Jesus being a dictator leader he was leading by example.

Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; and he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.” Matthew 4:8-9

The final temptation Satan was trying to tempt Jesus into the lust of the eyes. Look at all these beautiful possessions we can have if we just sell our soul. Jesus didn’t fall for this but sadly we see people do this every day. We see actors and musicians sell all their morals and values just to become rich, what they don’t understand is they are worshipping Satan and his worldly system

Then Jesus said to him, “Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'” Matthew 4:10

Again Jesus overcame this temptation and told Satan to go away! As the Bible tells us “Resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7) Worship God and serve him only!

We need to remember Jesus was in human form, susceptible to Satans temptations and overcame by The Holy Spirit. We can overcome also because Greater is he living inside of me than he that is living in the world (! John 4:4) in Jesus Name Amen!

Raising Lazarus

Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) John 11:1-2

The story of Lazarus is very inspirational, because Jesus displays how God is truly in control including death. To the world it looked like Lazarus life was over, but Jesus has conquered death and he can for you also.

Notice it was Mary who washed Jesus feet with her own hair and used expensive ointment which she was rebuked by Judas. Her love and faith to Jesus activated this miracle. For if we have the faith the size of a mustard seed we can move mountains.

When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. John 11:4

Jesus already declared he was going to resurrect Lazarus days before he even made it back to Judae. Everyone still though Lazarus was just sick and sleeping, because communication was slow back then. But Jesus already knew Lazarus had passed away but by the Power of God he will raise him again.

Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already. John 11:17

By the time Jesus and his disciples got to Judea, Lazarus was dead four days already. Mary was obviously upset with Jesus, she thought he left him to die. But she didn’t lose her faith as she still believe in the Power of God

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.John 11:25-27

Martha proved her faith to Jesus by knowing Jesus is the Messiah and she believes he can resurrect Lazarus.  How many of us today have this faith? How many of us truly believe Jesus can heal us even resurrect us if its Gods will?

When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept. John 11:33-35

Also what makes this one of the most powerful stories in the Bible, Jesus wept over the death of Lazarus. It shows us how much Jesus cares and loves us.

Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. John 11:41-43

Jesus gave the Glory to God and then commanded Lazarus who was dead for four days to come to life. Notice because they have faith in Jesus he asked God to deliver Lazarus.

Jesus is the resurrection and the way. Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. He will deliver you just like Lazarus in Jesus Name Amen

The Young Rich Man

And, behold, one came and said to him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? Matthew 19:16

The story about a young rich man and his conversation with Jesus, this man was pretty sure he was going to Heaven. But Jesus told him exactly what he needed to do to truly become his disciple.

And he said to him, Why call you me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments. He said to him, Which? Jesus said, You shall do no murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honor your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 19:17-19

First Jesus went thru the Ten Commandments handed down by God, notice as Jesus said he didn’t come to abolish the law but fulfill it. Many Christians falsely believe the new covenant wiped out all the laws by God from the old covenant. Here Jesus clearly shows you he still expects us to follow those same laws.

The young man said to him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said to him, If you will be perfect, go and sell that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. Matthew 19:20-21

The young rich man was pretty holy and has been following Gods commandments since he was a kid, so he was pretty sure he was good to get himself into Heaven. But Jesus read his heart and told him how to be truly saved.

But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Matthew 19:22

Why did the young rich man become so upset when Jesus told him to give it all away? It should be simple right? But this is exactly what Jesus is trying to teach us, you can’t serve two masters.

We become obsessed with material things that are just temporary, to the point where if Jesus said you could have eternal life if you just give up these things, we still can’t even walk away from them, that is idolatry.

Is there one thing that is keeping your heart from truly following Jesus? Are you consumed by the material things of this world, don’t let the temporary pleasures of this world prevent you from your eternal destiny in Jesus Name Amen

Resurrection of Christ

But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 1 Corinthians 15:12

A few years ago the movie “Heaven is for Real” was out and I thought it was interesting the reactions the boys story had gotten. Not just from the media but mainly his church, especially his father who was a minister. If someone told you they had been resurrected from the dead, why is this so shocking for Christians to believe?

Don’t we believe Jesus had been risen from the dead after 3 days? (Matthew 28) Don’t we believe Jesus resurrected Lazarus from the dead also? (Luke 7) Don’t we believe Elijah resurrected the son of Zarephaths widow? (2 Kings 4:35) Don’t we believe Peter resurrected Tabitha from the dead? (Acts 9:36-42) Don’t we believe Paul resurrected Eutychus from the dead? (Acts 20:9-12)

If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 1 Corinthians 15:13-14

Without the resurrection there is no Christianity, if you don’t believe in the resurrection then you don’t believe in Jesus as your Messiah. Thru his sacrifice Jesus has defeated death and was resurrected by the Power of God.

More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 1 Corinthians 15-16

All our hope is in Jesus Christ, by his blood we have been redeemed and will have eternal life. If you don’t believe this , then your simply not a Christian.

Going back to that movie makes you wonder, if a child at your church told you they have been resurrected and been to Heaven, would you believe them? Or would simply alienate them? Do you believe you will be resurrected? Then why won’t other Christians as well?

And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. 1Corinthians 17-19

Sin equals death, unless death is defeated we are dead. It’s only thru the redemption and resurrection of Christ we are alive. If you don’t believe this, you are not alive but a ticking clock.

Don’ dismiss the Power of God, don’t dismiss the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It’s only thru him we may have eternal life, may your faith not waver and Christ gives you strength in Jesus Name Amen

Worthy is The Lamb

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

Your past was long time ago yet it keeps haunting you every day, but the good news is you’re free from the slavery of your sins thru the blood of the Lamb. You ask how can this be? By Jesus sacrifice on the cross he took the punishment for your sins.

Don’t live every day in shame of your past; you have been transformed by Christ. You old self has passed away, and you were reborn in the blood. It’s time to rejoice for your chains have been broken.

(Leviticus 17:11) “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood thatmaketh an atonement for the soul.”

In order to understand why Jesus had to be sacrificed  on the cross, you need to understand the act of Atonement from the Old Testament.  To be cleansed of your sin before Jesus you needed to sacrifice  animals, but why did God require this?

The reason God wanted man to understand the seriousness of our sins. The wages of sin are death and separation from God. So the only way to redeem themselves for there sins, was to sacrifice an innocent life in their place.

(2 Corinthians 5:21) “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Jesus knew no sin and took our sins for us so we can be redeemed. He was the sacrificial lamb who was slain for you and me. Now that you understand this, you understand how much he loves you. He took the punishment for your sins, worthy is the Lamb.

(Revelations 5:12) Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

By the blood of the Lamb, we are redeemed, we are blessed, we are not condemned anymore. The chains of sin have been broken, sin and death have no hold on us anymore.

Worth is the Lamb , he is worthy of all our praise. Jesus has giving everything to you, it’s time for you to give everything to him also in Jesus name Amen

Spirit of God

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. Romans 8:11

The Power of God that raised Jesus Christ from the dead, can also be living in you by the Holy Spirit.   How do you view yourself? Defeated or Victorious? Weak or Strong? Cursed or Blessed? What if I told you God wants to fill you also  with this powerful life force?

Satan wants you to live in fear, but fear doesn’t exist when the Spirit of God lives in you. For this same spirit healed the sick, cast out demons, and our greatest victory raised Jesus Christ from the dead

(2 Timothy 1:7) “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Satan wants to control you with fear, but fear does not come from God. Fear is a method used for control, think about how Satan controls lives thru addictions, diseases, abuse, and death.

But the Spirit of God thru the blood of Jesus Christ breaks those chains. With God there is nothing to fear but The Lord himself, for he is the Almighty Creator, the beginning and the end.

(Isaiah 11:2) “And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;”

This scripture Isaiah prophesized about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Notice he mentions several times the Spirit of God is filled in Jesus. It’s only thru the Holy Spirit that we gain wisdom, understanding, healing, and become renewed.

We can also be filled with the Spirit of God, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, pray without ceasing, develop a relationship with our living God.

(Matthew 3:16) “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:”

The same Spirit of God that descended from Jesus can be alive in you also, many people put limitations on God, but all things are possible with God.

What issues are you faced with today? Are you facing them defeated? Or maybe your not even confronting them at all, stand tall and know that the most power force in the world lives inside you, you can do all thins thru Christ who gives you strength in Jesus name Amen

WE are ONE

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 1:27

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

With all the racial tensions in the world today it’s important that we understand we are all One. We are all made in the image of God, we are all One Race, and we are all one thru Jesus Christ.

(Galatians 3:28) “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

How can we all be made in the same image if we all look different? This is because of “Adaptation”

Adaptation– any alteration in the structure or function of an organism or any of its parts that results from natural selection and by which the organism becomes better fitted to survive and multiply in its environment.

Adaptation should not be confused with Evolution. As Evolution the theory is a species turns into another species. Where adaptation is just the changing of traits in the existing species.

To understand how it all began we need to reference “The Tower of Babel” (Genesis 11) in the Bible

Before this event the world had one language and when they conspired together to build a Tower to reach the heavens and proclaim themselves Gods, they were scattered all over the Earth and giving different languages so they did understand each other.

So after everyone was scattered among the Earth, their bodies over time started changing characteristics to adapt better to their climates, hence adaptation.

(Genesis 11:8) “So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

So if you hate your neighbor you hate yourself. For we are all in this together.  If you truly love God then you must love everyone as your brother and sisters

(1 John 4:21) “And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

Racism is complete ignorance, let’s stop looking and judging each other as separate races, We ARE ALL ONE. One thru Jesus Christ. We need to stop judging people based on there bodies adaptations and accept each other as equals.  If we can’t accept each other were probably not worthy of the Kingdom of God.
