My Lord My God

Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” John 20:28

Did Thomas curse? Today we look at the interaction Jesus had with his disciple Thomas. After Jesus was resurrected Thomas would not believe it was Jesus until he saw his wounds from the crucifixion. Jesus appeared face to face with Thomas and showed him the wounds in his hands and his side.

After Thomas seen this evidence with his own eyes, he declared Jesus My Lord and My God! Notice Jesus didn’t rebuke Thomas from calling him God. This is just another example of Jesus revealing his deity as he did throughout The Bible.

Anti-Trinitarians say that Thomas didn’t mean to call Jesus God, but that he actually cursed. As ridiculous as this sounds, this is the actual stance that they take.  Even though this claim is ridiculous , its also not likely for a couple of reasons.

First if we read the scripture in context, meaning read the entire chapter of John 20, after Jesus reveals himself to Thomas it makes sense that Thomas would confirm that Jesus was God. However for Thomas to curse during this story , really wouldn’t make any logical sense. There was no event that happened to cause this

Second, we need to remember Thomas was a devoted Jewish disciple. Meaning he was deep in his faith with God, everyone knows that the name of God is highly sacred and would never be spoken, especially as a curse. Do you need evidence? Look at the entire Old Testament, Jews changed the name of God (Yahweh) and replaced it with (The Lord). Jews did this so there was no chance that they would be taken Gods name in vein and breaking the commandment.

Its clear Jesus revealed himself as God and was declared God, question is , is Jesus Your Lord?

In The Beginning

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

Do you believe the first sentence of The Bible? If you believe God created the Heavens and The Earth, then you should believe that ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE with God!

The greatest miracle to ever happen, happened at the first scripture. God spoke planets and stars into existence. God created us from the dust and breathed his spirit into us. If you understand and believe this, then you should have no issues believing in the Trinity, the Resurrection, or the Virgin birth. All of these events can be complicated for our human minds to comprehend, but for God “Nothing Is Impossible”

Many people say they believe parts of The Bible and not other parts, you either believe God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient or you don’t. If you don’t believe the first scripture of The Bible, then how can you believe any of it?

When you come to an understanding that the Bible is God breathed, it was not written by men but revealed by The Holy Spirit to men. It is the Bread of Life and the Living Water! It’s a supernatural book that changes you, Man can’t live on bread alone!

Give Thanks to our Heavenly Father, who created the Heavens and the Earth, who gave us life and gave us a Lord and Savior in Jesus Name Amen!

Resurrection Story

Mary Magdalene came, announcing to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and that He had said these things to her. John 20:18

When we examine evidence for the existence of God, we always start with the “Resurrection Story” Why? Because without the Resurrection there is no Christianity. Without the Resurrection, there is no victory over sin and death. But we know it is true because of the eye witness testimony of over 500 people, including the first eye witness Mary Magdalene.

Now if the disciples were to make up a “Resurrection Story” they probably would have made up better details. One of the reasons we know the Resurrection story is true is because of the embarrassment of the details

Mary Magdalene, who was healed of seven demons, some believe she was an ex prostitute, was the first one to discover the resurrected Jesus. Where were the mighty men? They were all in hiding from persecution of the Romans and Jews. The fact that they gave credit to Mary for discovering Jesus, shows you the story is true and not made up

Woman were not considered equals back in these times, woman were mostly considered property and not educated ect. So for the disciples to admit Mary discovered the “Resurrected Jesus” first, would be an embarrassment for them. However it was documented because it’s the truth.

The Resurrection Story shows us the power of the gospel, how Jesus can take a sinner and lowest in society, and make them a leader in Gods Kingdom! Rejoice today because He is Risen in Jesus Name Amen!

TwoFold

The LORD restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the LORD increased all that Job had twofold. Job 42:10

As we come to the end of the book of Job, we see God has blessed Job “twofold” meaning twice as much, for his obedience and faith through his suffering and tribulation.

We remember earlier Job was so depressed that he cursed the day he was born. Job thought God had forgotten him and left him to die. But as God demonstrated, he never left or forsook Job at all. We remember Satan was the one who was testing and tormenting Job, not God. Even through all the pain and suffering , Job never cursed or blamed God. And his faith and obedience was rewarded.

So how does this story relate to us? What about our pain and suffering? Will God redeem us twofold?

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

God can take our darkest hour and turn into a victory! Just as God did with Job, he is still delivering us today.  We have already received the greatest gift of all, eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ! It’s important that regardless of what trials or tribulation you are going through today, that God is causing things to work for your good!

Satan might be attacking you today, but God has the final say, and through faith and obedience like Job, you are also blessed twofold in Jesus Name Amen!

God Is In Control

Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin John 19:11

God is always in control and always on the throne. Even in our darkest hours, when the world seems to be spinning in complete chaos, God has the final say.

While Pilate was giving the execution orders to Jesus, he thought that he (Pilate) was in complete control. Pilate thought there was no authority higher than his. Even though Pilate could find no fault with Jesus, he lived to please other people, and demonstrate his power and authority.

However what Pilate or anyone else doesn’t realize is Jesus willing laid down his life for the sins of the world (John 10:18) Jesus willingly allowed himself to be tortured and killed to pay the ransom for our sins. In truth Pilate has no power, hes just demonstrating the evil Satan has laid into our hearts.

What Pilate and the rest of the world doesn’t realize, through there abuse of power, they condemn themselves. As Jesus said “”Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell (Gehenna) (Matthew 10:28)

Don’t live your life in fear, God is in complete control, he holds your future and victory in Jesus Name Amen!
