Matthew 7- Does Jesus Know You?

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23

Today we are going to look at probably the scariest teaching in perhaps the entire Bible, as Jesus says “Not everyone who says Lord Lord shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven” now this ties in what we just went over with the Narrow Path and By Their Fruits, Christ is telling us there are many false Christians, and just by proclaiming yourself to be a Christian will not make you saved

There are many people today and in the past, that professed to be Christians, that used the name of Jesus in their works, however Christ has no idea who they even are. How is this possible? How can so many people be deceived into believing they are saved when they are not? Well most likely, they were taught a false gospel. Most preachers today are not preaching about sin, Hell, judgment, ect because these are unpopular. We want preachers who are motivational speakers, make us feel good, tell us what we want to hear! However these sugar coated messages keep you on the broad way to Hell.

Jesus said “ Unless you are Born Again, you won’t see the Kingdom of Heaven” (John 3:3) There are no exceptions to this, you must become Born Again. Most Christians today have no idea what that even means. Most Christians today never heard a sermon on becoming Born Again. Or most false prophets have watered down the idea of transformation in Christ, to just saying a few words and magically you now have a golden ticket to Paradise.

Becoming Born Again is a supernatural process, a spiritually dead person can’t be transformed without the Holy Spirit. Not only do you need to be baptized by the water, but you also need to be baptized by the Holy Ghost. You need to fully understand the cross, you need to understand the resurrection, you need to understand the ascension. Most Christians wear a cross on their neck and that’s the extent of their theology, understand Jesus was nailed on the cross for your sins, but Christ died for us because God loves us!

The original Greek for “never knew You” is “Ginosko”, if you search this word in the New Testament you will find it used for verse Luke 1:34 Mary says “ I never knew a man” I never Ginosko a man” What’s my point? Jesus using this phrase I never knew you “Ginosko” is in a personal context. Jesus is saying “ I have no relationship with this person” We can confess to be Christians, but do you have a personal relationship with Christ?

Jesus didn’t come here to start a new religion, He came down because He loves you and paid the penalty for your sins. Christ wants a personal relationship with you not just religious practice or sacraments, Does Jesus know you?

As The Lord said of the greatest of Commandments is to love Him with all your heart, mind, spirit and strength. Perhaps the last one “strength” revealed that we will be challenged towards that end of loving Him given all the temptations, evil, and the things of the world that is hard at work to take us away from Him. The good news is that without Him we can do nothing in guiding us to truly love Him. We just have to tell Him that this is the choice we want to make.
