For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

What separates The Bible from all other books? The difference is , The Bible is a supernatural book of the Living Word of God that reads you instead of you reading it. Why does The Bible offend so many people? Because when you read the Living Word of God it pierces your soul like a double edge sword.

From the outside The Bible just looks like another book written by 40 authors, but all Scripture is God breathed or inspired by The Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16)  How did Moses know the creation of the world? Simple The Holy Spirit revealed it to him. How did King David and Isaiah fortell about Jesus Christ hundreds of years before he was born? Again all scripture is given by The Holy Spirit through man.

When you understand this, you understand the power of the Living Word of God. Jesus never combated people with physical violence, he fought evil with the truth of God. When Jesus spoke demons trembled and fell down at his feet, diseases are cured , prisoners are set free, the blind receive sight, the deaf begin to hear!

There is a reason Satan wants The Bible removed from everywhere, he knows the power of The Living Word of God. When Jesus was confronted by Satan in the wilderness, he used The Word of God to defeat Satan! If your not strapping a Bible with you, you are going into the battle without your sword, preach the living Word of God and watch how it changes lives in Jesus Name Amen

    Dear friend, please feel free to let me know if I have not understood your point clearly. I have written this comment to measure up with how well I understood your post.

    The importance of the Bible is worthy of emphasis.

    However, the Living Word is still different from the physical book called the Bible. A man may have the Bible with him but still fall prey to the schemes of the evil one. The Bible can be treated as mere letter that kills. However, the quickened word (what Holy Spirit imparts into our hearts) is the true sword.

    I guess this is quite one of the reasons the earliest believers could live in the overcoming power of Jesus and be of one heart and mind, even if they didn’t have personal scrolls to read. These days however, the number of segregations that come from people handling the Bible tells that they all cannot be from the same Spirit.

    I believe we need the living word in us, more than carrying physical Bible copies around.
