The Great I AM

Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ Exodus 3:13-14

When God revealed this to Moses it probably made no sense to him at the time, but what God was doing was laying down the foundation for the prophecy of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s look and see how this prophecy was fulfilled.

Jesus answered, “I AM” the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I AM “ the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

Then Jesus declared,” I AM” the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35

“Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born,” I AM” John 8:58

I AM” the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. John 10:9

“I AM” the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. John 10:11

“I AM” the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. John 15:1

Jesus said to her,” I AM” the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; John 11:25

“I AM” the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Revelation 22:13

Its clear Jesus was identifying himself as “The Great I AM” as was revealed to Moses. When you read these scriptures the prophecies of the Old Testament not only are fulfilled but there meanings are revealed to us thru Jesus Christ.

Jesus is everything for us, he has giving us everything even though we don’t deserve it. If you don’t really know Jesus I suggest you study the above scriptures and get to know your King. He is THE GREAT I AM in Jesus Name Amen

It’s so perfect to see John’s perspective on the deity of Christ. He was a spiritually-seeking teenager when he met Jesus, transformed so profoundly as a young man who deeply loved the Lord. 60-years after the crucifixion it’s as though John is living his time with Jesus all over again. Thanks for a thoughtful post!
