Two Become One

“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ Matthew 19:4

In the beginning God specifically created Adam and Eve for each other and his plan was for them to be together there entire lives and raise a family. Just the same with your spouse, God created you to be together, not just for a while but forever.  Once you took your vows you made a covenant with God.

and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? Matthew 19:5

When you’re married, Two become one Flesh, not two people living separate lives coexisting. Your marriage has united you under God, every choice or decision is not your own, but a group decision. This is why divorce doesn’t seem logical to God, if Two become one Flesh then how can they separate?

So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. Matthew 19:6

Why do people get divorced? Do they not understand the covenant they made under God? Do they not understand there spouse is a part of them and separation will be devastation? Marriage is a lifelong plan by God  its not for a season.

However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Ephesians 5:33

Love your wife as you love yourself, this is a great lesson to learn and probably if applied could have saved countless marriages.  The reason marriages fail is when a spouse puts themselves first before the family. Love each other as Christ loves us and you will have a prosperous marriage as God intended.

I’m not judging or condemning anyone’s marriage,  my hope to see families stay united and marriages to live as God intended “Two become One” in Jesus Name Amen

Happy Anniversary

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 1 Corinthians 13:4

June  15th  marks the 10th  wedding anniversary for me and my wife, my best friend, my soulmate, and partner. We got married on the beach in Jamaica and it felt like we were truly standing under God in his paradise. Any nervousness was calmed by the soothing sounds of the ocean waves

Not many other scriptures define love as good as this one, love is sacrifice. Jesus showed us the ultimate display of love by laying down his life and not expecting anything in return. Love putting each other first and not focusing on our own selfish needs. These are great scriptures for all marriages.

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 1 Corinthians 13:5-6

Words are powerful, they can either bless someone or curse someone, it’s important as a couple your building and supporting each other rather than tearing each other down. Couples need to realize there partner is human and is going to make mistakes, it’s important to forgive one another and not condemn each other.

One of the reasons I love Heidi is she’s very supportive of me and treats me with love and respect.  Remember as a couple you are one, so when you put down your spouse, your putting down yourself.

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 1 Corinthians 13:11

As God said in Genesis when man and women get married “Two become One Flesh”, this is important to realize you and your spouse are one now under God.  You are no longer living for yourself, all your decisions not only impact your life but your spouse’s life also.

Me and Heidi are a great team, we make decisions together because ultimately all decisions effect the family. This is part of having a mature and healthy relationship; secrets are cracks in the foundation of marriage.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

To have a successful marriage it must truly be built on love, but to build it on love we must first understand what love truly is. Love is everything describes in these scriptures kindness, patience, and sacrifice.

I’m proud to say our Marriage has been all of this and more.  I couldn’t have asked God for a better partner and soul mate, she is my crown from God.  And I pray everyone may read 1 Corinthians 13 and apply it to your marriages in Jesus Name Amen

The Gifts of The Holy Spirit

Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. 1 Corinthians 12:1-2

When Jesus ascended to Heaven he told Peter and the Church to wait for the Holy Spirit to come, and on the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit arrived and empowered Christians in the name of Jesus Christ.

One of the failures of the modern-day Church is the lack of teaching about the Holy Spirit, for this power was giving to us by God, and without it we are vulnerable and naive. But by the Holy Spirit comes the wisdom and power of God in Jesus name.

Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:3

The Spirit completes the Trinity, therefore only speaks truth that comes from God. Nobody who denies Jesus is filled with the Spirit for they are lying.  When you accept Jesus into your heart, you are welcoming the Holy Spirit to come also, which will provide you peace and knowledge.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6

God has uniquely made all of us with different talents and skills, we should use these talents to Glorify God and tell the world about his kingdom. Don’t compare yourself to others, everyone has there own path, and everyone has there own strengths. Build from each other and let the Spirit enhance your gifts.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 1 Corinthians 12:7-10

The same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is the same Spirit living in you. There is power, strength , wisdom, and healing in the name of Jesus thru the Holy  Spirit, but are you willing to accept him?

All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines. 1 Corinthians 12:11

Some have the power of healing, some have the power of prophecy, all of this comes from the same Holy Spirit from the same God in the name of Jesus. Welcome The Holy Spirit today and be elevated to a new spiritual level that demons will tremble at your sight in Jesus Name Amen

Flee From Idolatry

Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry. I speak to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say. Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? 1 Corinthians 10:14-16

What is idolatry? In the dictionary it mean the worship of idols, extreme admiration, love , or reverence for something or someone.  We have a lot of idolatry in our society today ranging from people’s obsession with celebrities to people worshiping man-made objects.  As Jesus said where your treasure is your heart is also. What is your heart set on?

Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.  1 Corinthians 10:17

Satan wants to divide, but through Jesus were are all one.  Though separate, together we make up the body of Christ. Idolatry separates us, it makes your heart go astray from your life source. The blind lead the blind into the ditch.

Consider the people of Israel: Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar? Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. 1 Corinthians 10:18-20

There is only one true God, the same God of Israel is the same God that rose Jesus Christ from the dead. Any other worship or idolatry is Satanic. Do all you do to the Glory of God and no one or nothing else.

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons. 1 Corinthians 10:18-21

Pastor John Hagee says being a Christian is like being pregnant, you either are or you not. That pretty much sums it up, there is no such thing as a part time Christian. You are either serving The Lord or your serving something else.

Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he? 1 Corinthians 10:22

Our God is a jealous God, he is your creator and Heavenly Father and wants you to be part of his Kingdom. Imagine your own child rejecting you and knowing there life will be headed to ruin and chaos.

Set your eyes on God not of this world, don’t obsess over senseless pleasures because they will only lead you off the narrow path to eternal life in Jesus Name Amen

The Last Days

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 1 Timothy 3:1

This is a simple but very powerful scripture, how would you describe the state of the world these days? Jesus described the days leading up to the tribulation as a women about to go into labor. Without Jesus it would be easy to feel hopeless, but thru him we have eternal life and know we have a better final destination.

People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God- 1 Timothy 3:2-4

Doesn’t this pretty much sum up society today? A society where taking selfies is a household chore,  where money  is the new God , where marriage is an old fashioned ritual while everyone lusts after each other, where society cares more about the latest pop star than Jesus Christ. To be blunt Society has gone to hell, and this is what happens when you remove God as your Father.

having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 3:5-7

False prophets and false religions will come out of the wood work, if you don’t believe me turn on TV and watch some of these “religious” channels, false prophets are a dime a dozen not looking to share the gospel of Christ but make a dime off there propaganda.

But Jesus told us we will know by the fruit they bear, while these preachers live in mansions, fly in private jets, and sell there latest book, the poor in there neighbor go hungry and homeless, don’t be deceived by the false gospel of false prophets.

Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.  But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone. 1 Timothy 3:8-9

Jesus is the truth, life, and the way, he was rejected because evil people hate truth. The world can’t indulge in there own lusts and pleasures if they accept the gospel, don’t conform to the ways of the world.

But eventually the wicked end up falling on there own sword, you have a choice either pleasure of sin for a season or eternal life for a lifetime, the choice is yours. These are the End Days but Christians will always have hope in Jesus Name Amen

Tree of Knowledge

And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;
but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die. Genesis 2:16-17

The other day my 5 year old son asked me, Daddy do you eat from the tree of knowledge? Now at first this seemed very cute, since we just taught him about Adam and Eve in Sunday School, but the more I thought about it, it is a good question, am I eating from the Tree of Knowledge?

Let me explain, so I’m pretty much a Bible Geek, I enjoy studying the Bible and am always looking for deeper understanding of all the scriptures. Sometimes this pursuit can lead us astray us there is a lot of false gospels and religions out there that will try to pervert the original Gospel. For example, I came across a religion that believed Paul  was visited by Satan on the Road to Damascus and not Jesus, therefore his Gospels are all false.  Now I don’t believe this, as I do believe Paul met Jesus and his Gospels are inspired by The Holy Spirit, but when we allow these false ideas and thoughts to entire our minds it creates doubt which weakens our faith.

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:4-5

Satan is the great deceiver; he will twist Gods word to fit his agenda. This was apparent when Jesus was confronted by Satan in the Wilderness, he twisted scriptures to try and tempt Jesus and he will do the same to us.

Just as Satan told Adam and Eve he had greater knowledge than God, the world is still telling us this today. As it says in 1 Corinthians 4:4 , Satan is ruler of this world. Even today the world has removed God from our schools, from our governments, and now our country. Are you eating from the “Tree of Knowledge” or do you believe in the Word of God?

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. James 1:6

Some might say I do both, what kind of faith does this display when you second guess Gods truth? The problem is like James said, the one who doubts will be like a wave tossed in the ocean. As soon as a new false prophet or gospel comes along you fall it. remember Jesus is the same today, yesterday, and forever, there is no wavering for him.

The question is will you put your full faith in God or will we continue to eat from the “Tree of Knowledge”? The choice is ours, Jesus is the truth , life and the way he is the Rock you can build your foundation of faith on in Jesus Name Amen.
