Lukewarm Christians

‘So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. Revelation 3:16

Is there a such thing as a “Lukwarm Christian”? If so what is a “Lukewarm Christian”? Often I heard theologians try to downplay this scripture, saying it was a cultural reference to a drink, however this is a warning Jesus is giving to the Church, if he is truly your Master, then stop compromising to worship people

For example, we look at the United Methodist Church. They currently have an open Lesbian as a Bishop who is calling Jesus a bigot, however we have millions of “Christians” who continue to loyally serve the Methodist Church. Where is the outrage? Why are all the Methodist compromising their doctrine to appease the Church? They are “Lukewarm Christians”, either they don’t have the Biblical knowledge to identify the heresies or they just simply don’t care

Some might say, but wouldn’t Jesus rather have everyone saved even if they were “Lukewarm”? Well are you truly saved if you are “Lukewarm”? How can you truly be a bondservant for Christ and allow heresy in your Church?

But Jesus accepts everyone, regardless right? Well didn’t Jesus say “Many are called but few are chosen” (Matthew 22:14)? , didn’t he say , “Narrow is the path and few will find it” (Matthew 7:14)?  Jesus said he would “Spit out” the “Lukewarm Christians” isn’t that enough to take this more serious?

“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’ Matthew 7:23

The current heresy going on in the UMC, as well as many other big corporate denominations, is lawlessness (sin). If you continue to stand with that Church, you are guilty of it also, as Jesus said “ Come out of her” (Revelation 18:4) meaning get out of the corrupted Church and worship God in spirit and truth

Heavenly Father, we pray for the Church, we pray that the Holy Spirit convicts all those guilty of being Lukewarm and lead that back to Spirit and Truth in Jesus Name Amen!

God The Father?

“Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Matthew 6:9

The United Methodist Church continues to shock everyone, at least true Christians should be shocked. At the  Minnesota Conference they  removed God The Father from their Apostles Creed. Their official statement was that the term “Father” wasn’t inclusive enough for the 21st century UMC. Even though Jesus Christ, who is the cornerstone of the Church, always addressed God as The Father and even taught us to pray to God as The Father.

Here is their official statements regarding this issue

Leaders need to establish the ground rules: Everybody’s God language is appropriate. People’s God language signifies a relationship that you can’t interfere with. You can raise questions and offer additional perspectives, but you can’t dictate. You can’t prohibit anybody from using any language about God. Whether they want to call God “Jehovah” or “Big Dog,” you can’t judge the validity of how that name connects them with God. People just need to get used to that.

So according to the UMC we now have the authority to override Jesus Christ and edit the Apostles Creed which has been in existence for over 2,000 years. Seriously they are ok with people calling God “Big Dog”? What happened to the integrity and respectability of the Methodist Church?

Pastors and other leaders should give attention to teaching people what the church’s traditional images mean and what they don’t mean. For instance, the “fatherhood” of God is about relationship, not biology. Our people won’t know how to reflect theologically about these things — instead of just reacting emotionally — unless we give them the tools.

There is nothing emotional about the Father/Son hierchy of the Bible. For example we were given examples through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob about the significance of roles a Father/Son play in society and in theology. Without this understanding , you wouldn’t understand the title of Son of God

Pastors and other worship leaders should expose people to a variety of images of God, both familiar and new, both comforting and provocative. People should regularly hear God referred to in public worship with images that are male, female, and gender neutral. In a worship service the choir may sing an anthem with thickly sexist, male-dominated language, while the prayers are full of feminine imagery. People can sing their own words, with their personal substitutions, if they wish. People should be encouraged to take responsibility for their own faith.

As the Bible tells us we are not to conform to the ways of this world but become transformed. This statement is telling us the opposite, lets conform to society today to make “Church” more acceptable. This is total heresy!
