Memorial Day

When I think about Memorial Day, one word comes to mind “Sacrifice” On Memorial Day in America , we honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to save others, our soldiers in the Military, our first line responders , our Police Officers or Fire Fighters. There are many brave men and women who gave us the freedom and liberty we have today

Why did these heroes lay down their lives? It all because of Love, its a love for your country, or a love for justice, or a love for your neighbor and family. Sacrifice is often motivated by Love

So as we celebrate and honor our hero’s, lets not forget our Lord who payed the ultimate sacrifice for the sin of the world, Jesus Christ! Even when we were still sinners, Christ still died for us and paid the ultimate sacrifice. Why would Jesus do this? Because He loves us before we even loved him. God didn’t want to see anyone perish, so he sent his only begotten Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins

So this Memorial Day, remember and honor your loved one who paid the price, but also remember our Lord Jesus Christ who paid the ransom for all of us! For God so loved the world that He gave his Only Begotten Son, whoever believes in Him shall not perish!

Memorial Day

When I think of Memorial Day, I think of one word Sacrifice. Memorial Day is not a day we celebrate victories or even promote our country. But it’s a day we reflect upon the sacrifices made by soldiers, that accomplish those victories and establish our nation.

The word Sacrifice means an act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else more important. When we talk about soldiers making a sacrifice its not just about losing their life, they also sacrificed relationships, sacrificed dreams, sacrificed inner peace, sacrificed marriages , children , and families. Every soldier sacrificed something for the line of duty

So the question is why do we celebrate Memorial Day? Because without the soldiers sacrifice we wouldn’t be able to worship God right now. Without the sacrifice of soldiers we wouldn’t have any of the freedoms that we take for granted today. Right now in China currently, their government in burning down Christian churches, burning Bibles, and imprisoning and killing Christians. There are many other countries throughout the world that persecute people because of their freedoms and beliefs.

So if your grateful for any of the freedoms that you enjoy today, thank a Soldier!, if your grateful you can worship in freedom , thank a soldier. If your thankful you can voice your opinions without persecution or imprisonment , thank a soldier. To deny thanks to these soldiers is to deny your freedom exist

Memorial Day 2018

Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

When I think of Memorial Day, I think of one word sacrifice. One of the meanings of the word sacrifice is  “the surrender or destruction of something prized or desirable for the sake of something considered as having a higher or pressing claim”  Meaning soldiers gave up their lives for a higher purpose or greater good

Its important we honor and remember our fallen veterans because they gave up everything so we may have freedom here today. In America, everything you are doing right now is because of a veteran. I am writing this blog right now because of a veteran, we are able to get an education or worship in Church, because of veterans. Other countries don’t have these freedoms!

Jesus Christ sacrificed himself to give us spiritual freedom. We are all slaves to sin and held captive to death, however Jesus took the penalty of death upon himself to free us from the grave. He did this not for his own benefit, he did it for a higher purpose and greater good. Jesus did this because he truly loves us and considers us a friend.

The Biblical word for this love is “AGAPE”, this is not a love we typically know. This is a sacrificial love, because anyone can say they love you, but how many are willing do die for you because of love? Remember the sacrifice of our veterans, remember the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Because only though him can your soul be truly set free!

Heavenly Father, we pray for our veterans past and present today, may you give them peace and hope through your Holy Spirit, may everyone understand the freedom your Son did for us at the cross in Jesus Name Amen!
