Spiritual Babylon

Babylon has been a golden cup in the hand of the LORD, Intoxicating all the earth. The nations have drunk of her wine; Therefore the nations are going mad. Jeremiah 51:7

Here the Prophet Jeremiah prophecies about the “Fall of Babylon” , now many probably misinterpreted this to mean the literal Babylon that was oppressing Israel during this time. But this is partly the case, we also see another Babylon in Revelation, so whats going on here?

The word Babylon means confusion. It all started at the Tower of Babel by Nimrod who wanted to be God and create a Kingdom himself. God obviously stopped this movement, and scattered them across the world in confusion.

The Next Babylon during Jeremiahs days, would take over Jerusalem and destroy the Holy Temple. But Jeremiah was also speaking of a “Spiritual Babylon” that we see in the Book of Revelation.

And another angel, a second one, followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who has made all the nations drink of the wine of the passion of her immorality.” Revelation 14:8

Notice we see in the prophecies from Jeremiah and Revelation that “Babylon” has made the entire world drunk. This evil empire would get the entire world to follow its agenda. This agenda would be filled with immorality, does this sound familiar? Do you see evil agendas created by the system today?

But take note, God will destroy this evil empire. Spiritual Babylon will come to ruins, and when it does everyone who is drunk on her immorality will mourn. Don’t follow the Beast, follow the King of Kings and Lord of Lords Jesus Christ.

In the end Christ will reign forevermore, while all evil will be thrown into the Lake of Fire Halleluiah to the Lamb of God Amen!

Lost Sheep

My people have become lost sheep; Their shepherds have led them astray. They have made them turn aside on the mountains; They have gone along from mountain to hill And have forgotten their resting place. Jeremiah 50:6

Even after all the disobedience and rebellion by Gods people, he still has love and compassion for them. God compared his people as “Lost Sheep” This is a common theme and comparison throughout the Bible. But notice God says “Their shepherds have led them astray”

The word “Pastor” is derived from the word Shepherd. These shepherds God is referring to are the “High Priests” and religious leaders. They continually lied about fake prophecies and allowed heresies to invade their assemblies which tainted the people

“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. John 10:11

Jesus is The Good Shepherd, he is our High Priest. He wont deceive or lead us astray. In fact he loves us enough to lay down his life for us to  forgive our sins. If you follow Jesus you wont be led astray, because he is the only way to God and eternal life

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Notice at the end of the Jeremiah scripture it also says, “they have forgotten their resting place” Where is our resting place? Jesus is our Rest, Jesus is our Sabbath. Don’t forget The Lord or you will be seeking Rest for your soul

We were all Lost Sheep,  listen to the Good Shepherd and come home to the Father in Jesus Name Amen!

Will You Listen?

Whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, we will listen to the voice of the LORD our God to whom we are sending you, so that it may go well with us when we listen to the voice of the LORD our God.” Jeremiah 42:6

The Prophet Jeremiah was never very popular, mostly because people didn’t like to hear truth. Jeremiah would only speak what God has told him, but the people mostly didn’t like what God had to say. So time and time again, the Israelites would disobey God and horrible consequences usually happened. Here the people are telling Jeremiah, that this time they will listen to God

‘If you will indeed stay in this land, then I will build you up and not tear you down, and I will plant you and not uproot you; for I will relent concerning the calamity that I have inflicted on you. Jeremiah 42:10

Jeremiah brought the message of God to the people, however again it was not the message they wanted to hear. The people of Israel wanted to flee their own country and hide out in Egypt. But God told them to stay in Israel and he would protect them

For you have only deceived yourselves; for it is you who sent me to the LORD your God, saying, “Pray for us to the LORD our God; and whatever the LORD our God says, tell us so, and we will do it.” Jeremiah 42:20

Even though the Israelites promised to listen to God, again they disobeyed. Even though God promised to protect them in Israel, they rather go their own way in Egypt where death is certain.

Can we relate to this story? How many times have we said we would listen to God, only to disobey his commands? God is smarter than you, he knows the beginning and the end, listen to him in obedience. Don’t be like these people, and follow Jesus, the Way ,the Truth, and the Life Amen!

Trust in God

For I will certainly rescue you, and you will not fall by the sword; but you will have your own life as booty, because you have trusted in Me,” declares the LORD.'” Jeremiah 39:18

Jerusalem was once again being overtaken, it says “They (Chaldeans) tore down the walls of Jerusalem (Jeremiah 39:8) Death and destruction was imminent for Jeremiah, however God said “because you have trusted me I will save your life”

We need to understand even if the darkest hour of our life, God is still in control. We need to trust in him and he will rescue us. Even when the walls come tumbling down and everything is set of fire around us, God is still with us!

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? Romans 8:31

The Apostle Paul lived and preached the same message. While he preached the gospel, many imprisoned him, beat him, and even tried to kill him. But God would continually deliver Paul because he trusted in God. Once Paul was thought to be stoned to death but he lived, once Paul was bitten by a poisonous snake and he lived. God will rescue those who trust in him.

Now you might say , Paul died from being beheaded. Yes Paul died a martyrs death, why would God allow this? For Paul to be a witness that the gospel of Jesus Christ, why else would Paul and the Apostles willingly die?

In the midst of your storm, God is in complete control. Put your trust in him, he will give you eternal life in Jesus Name Amen!

Sound Doctrine

But Jeremiah said, “They will not give you over. Please obey the LORD in what I am saying to you, that it may go well with you and you may live. Jeremiah 38:20

Jeremiah was once again cast into to prison and left for day for speaking the truth of God. However there was one King who actually wanted to know what God had to say and rescued Jeremiah. King Zedekiah told Jeremiah “Do not hide anything from me” (Jeremiah 38:14)

King Zedekiah wanted Jeremiah to give it to him straight about what God had to say. He didn’t want a watered down version, he wanted the Truth. Because Jeremiah told him the truth he saved Jeremiahs life.

The message was simple, Obey God and you will live. If you disobey God you are going to die from the wages of everyones sins

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 2 Timothy 4:3-4

Today we have the same issue, nobody wants to hear the truth. Nobody wants to hear the Word of God, and those who do speak truth are persecuted for their faith. Just like Jeremiah, don’t compromise! God will deliver you!

We have many churches and Christians who have “watered down” the gospel or changed doctrines to please or not offend people. Give it to them straight, speak truth. Because when we die its to late , only Jesus Christ can save your soul Amen!

Word of God

Take again another scroll and write on it all the former words that were on the first scroll which Jehoiakim the king of Judah burned. Jeremiah 36:28

The Word of God was given to the Prophet Jeremiah who then had written down by Baruch, it was then read to King Jehoiakim who didn’t like what God had to say and burned it in his fireplace. According to the Bible King Jehoiakim was a wicked man (2 Kings 23:37) who was also guilty of killing prophet Uriah (Jeremiah 26:20-23)

So its no surprise King Jehoiakim would reject the Word of God and try to destroy it. The Kings followers were just as bad, as they showed no fear in Gods word and they didn’t react when he burned the scrolls (Jeremiah 36:23-24) However as we know, God will not be mocked, and his Word remains forever

And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, ‘Thus says the LORD, “You have burned this scroll, saying, ‘Why have you written on it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will make man and beast to cease from it?'” Jeremiah 36:29

God commanded the scroll to be rewritten, but he also God passed judgment down upon King Jehoiakim for his blasphemy. This prophecy came true as King Jehoiakim when the Babylonians overtook Jerusalem and Jehoiakims body was thrown over the city wall in a disgraceful death

The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8

Today there is still a lot of people like King Jehoiakim trying to remove and destroy the Word of God. But the Word of God will stand forever! Truth is truth, regardless if you try to ignore or deny it. 1+1 will always equal 2, just as the Word of God will always stand Amen!

Nothing Is Impossible

Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?” Jeremiah 32:27

Jeremiah was in prison, and Jerusalem was being taken over by Babylon, yet Jeremiah kept prophesying that Israel would be free again. Not only did he keep prophesying this, he purchased a piece of land because he knew that God would free Israel again

Jeremiahs persistent prophecy obviously angered the King of Babylon and had Jeremiah locked away so nobody can hear or see him.

Jeremiah said a prayer of praise to God saying nothing is impossible for him (Jeremiah 32:17) God answered back to Jeremiah and confirmed to him, Nothing is impossible for God, and God told Jeremiah exactly how he was going to redeem Israel

I will make an everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will put the fear of Me in their hearts so that they will not turn away from Me. Jeremiah 32:40

God declares he will make a “new covenant” an everlasting covenant where God will write the law on our hearts. This is the new covenant that was fulfilled through Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit has written the Law in our hearts and minds.

And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

How can God save the world with the life of one man? Nothing is impossible to God! How can God bring his son into our human realm? Nothing is impossible to God! How can God give us a new heart and fill us with the Holy Spirit? Nothing is Impossible for God! Amen!
