Holy Week- Good Friday- By Jesus Stripes

He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed Isaiah 53:3-5

The prophecy of Isaiah was written over 700 years before Christ was born, the accuracy of this prophecy foretelling the crucifixion of Christ and other details and events that took place are amazing. The story of Good “Holy” Friday can be found in this one chapter of Isaiah

Jesus was despised and rejected, a man of sorrows, they believed he was cursed by God, however the truth was he took our curse for us. He was wounded and bruised for our sins, the penalty for our sins fell upon Jesus, the sinless Lamb of God. By Jesus stripes, by his sacrifice on the cross, we can now be reconciled back to our Heavenly Father and have the inner peace of the Holy Spirit

All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. Isaiah 53:6-8

God layed his wrath for our sin all upon Jesus at the cross, we are all sinners who have gone astray, Jesus was led like a Lamb to the slaughter, he died for our sins and not his own. He took on the penalty for the sins of the world, so we may be justified before God

And they made His grave with the wicked— But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. Isaiah 53:9-11

God the Father poured down his wrath on the sinless Lamb of God to be our atonement for our sins. We may inherit eternal life, because Jesus paid it all for us, he is the suffering servant who will justify all those before God who put their faith in Him

Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.  Isaiah 53:12

Jesus was crucified between two criminals, numbered with the transgressors, Jesus bore the sins and is the intercessor of all those who are Born Again in Christ!

This Good Friday, take a moment to remember what Christ has done for you, the love He demonstrated on the cross Amen!

Holy Week- Maundy Thursday-Lords Supper

While they were eating, He took some bread, and after a blessing He broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is My body.” Mark 14:22

The Last Supper, The Lords Supper, or Communion, whatever you want to call it was a sacred event that declared the coming of the New Covenant! Why was Jesus and his disciples having a feast? Because it was Passover and Jesus is the Passover Lamb, Jesus is the fulfillment of the Passover as the Lamb of God

Jesus said to “Do this in remembrance of Me” taking communion is a sacred time when we reflect on Christ and what he has done for us. As the Apostle Paul says we should “Examine ourselves” (1 Corinthians 11:28)  meaning to reflect on our relations with Christ

As Jesus broke the bread he said this is symbolic of his body broken on the cross for our sins. His body he laid out for us as a atoning sacrifice for our sins not his!

And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And He said to them, “This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Mark 14:23-24

The wine was symbolic for his blood shed on the cross to cover us of our sins. This is the blood of the Lamb that allowed death to Passover us. Jesus said his blood is a New Covenant which is for many! God and Man has become reconciled

When you take communion, do it in remembrance of Christ and what he has done for You! Examine yourself and get right with God, repent any sin in your life and rejoice in the Lord Amen!

Holy Week- Monday-Cleansing The Temple

And He began to teach and say to them, “Is it not written, ‘MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL THE NATIONS ‘? But you have made it a ROBBERS’ DEN.” Mark 11:17

One of the most overlooked events , I believe ,is the cleansing of The Temple. Now this wasn’t a one time event, as Jesus cleansed the Temple at the beginning of his ministry (John 2) and he also cleansed it at the ending of his ministry (Mark 11). What was the significance? What was Jesus trying to teach us here?

First you need to understand what the Temple was and its purpose. The Temple was the only place on Earth where Gods presence existed at this time. If you wanted to worship God, you needed to come to the Temple. The Temple was the only place where the atonement of your sins could take place. If you wanted to make atonement for your sins, you needed to come to the Temple. The Temple was where the High Priests lived, you couldn’t receive atonement or come into the presence of God without the High Priest.

Jesus fulfilled all of this at the cross. The Temple was a foreshadow of Christ to come! Jesus said he would Destroy this Temple in 3 days and then raise it Up (John 2:19) He was talking about himself, his death and resurrection! Jesus fulfilled The Temple, Jesus is our atoning sacrifice, Jesus is our High Priest!

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19

Jesus was cleansing the physical Temple from sin as an example to cleanse our temples from sin. The Temple of God in Israel had become corrupted, they used it more like a marketplace to make money than a house of worship, does this sound familiar with our Churches today? Jesus was making a statement, we need to worship God in Spirit and Truth (John 4:24)

When you become Born Again, your body is now the Temple of God, the Holy Spirit lives inside of you! God does not tolerate sin in the Lords House as he doesn’t tolerate sin in your body! Cleanse your temple! Amen!

Resurrection Sunday

And he said to them, “Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him. Mark 16:6

After the Sabbath on Sunday morning, a few women went to the tomb of Jesus to bring spices for his body. What they didn’t realize was they were going to witness the greatest event in world history! The angel at the tomb told the woman, Jesus is Risen!

The angel told them to tell the Good News (Gospel) to the rest of the disciples. When the woman told Peter and the disciples , they didn’t believe them. But they went to investigate anyway, what they found not only changed their lives forever, but changed the entire world forever

Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” John 20:15

After the disciples investigated they left but Mary stayed behind and was crying over the Lord Jesus. However a man who was there asked here “Why are you weeping”? This seems like a dumb question at a tomb. But she didn’t realize the man she was talking to was the Risen Lord Jesus Christ!

As the angels asked the woman previously “Why do you seek the Living among the Dead? (Luke 24:5) Meaning Jesus has Risen! Jesus is alive forevermore and is sitting on the throne in Heaven.

The greatest day is Easter (Resurrection) Sunday because death has been defeated, the grave couldn’t hold him! Our God reigns forevermore Hallelujah to the Lamb of God! Amen!

Brotherhood Betrayal

So Jesus, knowing all the things that were coming upon Him, went forth and said to them, “Whom do you seek?” John 18:4

Judas sold out Jesus for the world. Judas had his opportunity to be in the inner circle of the Son of God, he got to witness miracles first hand, he even got divine revelation and teachings directly from Christ himself.  However this wasn’t enough for him, Satan planted the seed of greed and jealousy into his heart, and he gave up his mortal soul

So when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground. John 18:6

Notice when Jesus revealed who he was, everyone immediately fell to the ground. This wasn’t just believers, this was Roman soldiers, this was Pharisees, this was officers of the Roman empire. Every knee will bow and tongue will confess Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, even the most wicked will eventually bow down to his authority!

So Jesus said to Peter, “Put the sword into the sheath; the cup which the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?” John 18:11

Even though Jesus had the power and authority to wipe out the entire Roman empire, he willingly laid down his life for us to be the atonement for our sins. Jesus was obedient even to death, he didn’t stray from the will of our Father God

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? Mark 8:36

What did it profit Judas, to gain 30 pieces of silver, yet to lose his mortal soul? Nothing! He tried to give back the silver and eventually hung himself from the guilt of condemnation.  Don’t be a Judas, don’t reject Christ! When you reject Christ , you are killing him on that cross also! Think about It!!

Garden of Gethsemane

They came to a place named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here until I have prayed.” Mark 14:32

Gethsemane is where Jesus came to die, the cross is only the evidence – Leonard Ravenhill

The garden of Gethsemane will kick off a series of events that will eventually take Jesus to the cross. And then ultimately victorious out of the Tomb! Notice Jesus brought his disciples to support him while he talks to the Father. But Christ inner circle was starting to fall apart. Judas left to betray him, Peter was about to deny him 3 times, the Zebedee brothers were arguing who was the greatest, the humanity of the disciples was starting to show

And He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved to the point of death; remain here and keep watch.” Mark 14:34

Jesus was in great distress, because he knew what he was about to endure for the penalty of our sins. The gospel of Luke says Jesus was sweating blood (Luke 22:44) So how did his disciples react? They all fell asleep! During the most urgent time Jesus needed them, they fell asleep. Just like we are today, where are the “Churches” on fire for the Lord today? They all have fallen asleep with complacency!

And He was saying, “Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will.” Mark 14:36

Jesus asks the Father to take this “Cup of wrath” from him, but not Christs will but the will of the Father will be done! Jesus by his obedience took this “Cup of Wrath” upon him because of our sins, not his. Who else could take this Cup? Nobody because Jesus is the perfect Passover Lamb of God!

And He came the third time, and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough; the hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.  Mark 14:41

The Time has Come! For Christ to be betrayed, beaten, and crucified by sinners! Why did this have to happen? Because the wages of our sins is death and Christ is the only one who can atone for our debts!

The Garden of Eden brought sin into the world while the Garden of Gethsemane started the process to bring redemption to the world Amen!

Lords Supper #Communion

While they were eating, He took some bread, and after a blessing He broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is My body.” Mark 14:22

When you take communion, do it in remembrance of Christ and what he has done for You! Examine yourself and get right with God, repent any sin in your life and rejoice in the Lord Amen!

Cleansing The Temple
