Baptized With Fire

“I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” Mark 1:8

Did you know there are actually two baptisms? John The Baptist reveals this in announcing the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. While John was able to baptize people with water, there is only one who can baptize us with the Holy Spirit and that is Jesus Christ.

Water Baptism is a symbolic ritual when becoming a Christian. When you are put under the water, its symbolic for your “old self” dying. And when you are brought back up out of the water, its symbolic of your resurrection, your “new self”. This is the true meaning of “repentance” when you become transformed and turn away from your sins.

Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Romans 6:3

Paul gives a good explanation about Baptism in Romans 6. When Jesus dies on the cross for our sins, our “old self” died also. And when Jesus rose from the grave and defeated sin and death, through Christ we rose also. Once you truly accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you will never be the same again

In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation– having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise Ephesians 1:13

Once you truly repented and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have been sealed by the Holy Spirit. You were baptized by the Holy Spirit. The same power that rose Jesus from the grave is now living inside of you!  The Holy Spirit is your Counselor, Advocate, Counselor, and Comforter.(John 14) He is leading and molding you to become what God has created you to be in Jesus Name Amen!

Captain Jesus

Now it came about when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand, and Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us or for our adversaries?” Joshua 5:13

As Joshua was leading the Israelites into Jericho to take over the city, he came across a man, but this wasn’t just any man, this was God in the flesh Jesus Christ himself. When we study the Old Testament we can see how Jesus has been revealed many times before he came down to take the wages of our sins.

Interesting enough Jesus revealed himself to Joshua who bears the same name. Joshua is the English translation of Yeshua (Jesus) And Joshua was the successor to Moses, who God first revealed himself to.

He said, “No; rather I indeed come now as captain of the host of the LORD.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said to him, “What has my lord to say to his servant?” Joshua 5:14

Jesus revealed to Joshua exactly who he is, as the captain or commander of God. Notice instantly Joshua bowed down to the King of Kings, and Jesus didn’t rebuke him. Its always been well known by the Jewish people to only bow and worship God. The fact that Joshua, the leader of the Israelites does this should tell you something

The captain of the LORD’S host said to Joshua, “Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so. Joshua 5:15

This last statement by Jesus gives us confirmation about his deity. Remember when Moses talked to God at the Burning Bush (Exodus 3) God commanded Moses to remove his sandals because he was standing on holy ground, Jesus commands Joshua to do exactly the same.

The revelation of Jesus Christ, as God in the flesh, is clear here in Joshua. Jesus as the commander or captain is leading us into the Promise Land Amen!

What Is Truth?

Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice. Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, “I find no guilt in Him. John 18:37-38

What is Truth? Does truth exist? Today we are taking a look at the interaction Jesus had with Pontius Pilate. Most of us remember this interaction during Jesus trial of his crucifixion. As Jesus reveals to Pilate that he came into the world to testify of the truth, Pilates response is “What is Truth?”  Meaning there is no such thing as truth.

Ironically today Atheists and skeptics are using the same argument. They argue that Truth is only a matter of someone’s opinion. Meaning whatever I believe is my truth and whatever you believe is your truth. However the problem with this argument is based on that ideology there is no absolute truth then. They deny the Bible is truth because based on their ideology its matter of opinion, then all books, writtens, and theories have no truth then based on this standard. Going down this road, basically nothing would have any purpose or meaning because there would be no truth.

And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. John 8:32

Because of this we know that truth does exist, because we exist for a purpose. We are not randomly created. Jesus came here to deliver the truth, and when you receive his truth, you shall be SET FREE

Free from the bondages of sin and death, that we are all enslaved to because of the fall of Adam. So if your asking “What is Truth?” The Answer is Jesus Christ, the way, the truth , and the life (John 14:6) Amen!
