Servants of Christ

Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 1 Corinthians 4:1

What do you want to be when you grow up? Often when were young we have ambitious answers, however some people may have filled those ambitions, while others went off into a different direction. Regardless nobody says when they grow up they want to be a servant. This seems absurd, we want to life ourselves as high as we can possibly go

However as a Christian, you are a servant of Jesus Christ. Or atleast your supposed to be, this is what true Christianity is about, self denial. Skeptics will say, “Its easy to be a Christian”, “Just say a few lines and your in” this is false, true Christianity is a transformation not a slogan

In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy. 1 Corinthians 4:2

Jesus is looking for people faithful and trustworthy, but how does this fit into my life and my dreams? Sometimes it might not, sometimes you might have to walk away and leave behind careers, friends, and comfort for Christ. Are you willing to deny yourself, carry your cross, and follow Jesus?

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. Matthew 16:24

Jesus said “anyone” who wants to be a Christian must become his servant. Not just some people, not just the prophets or the apostles, everyone! Are you willing to do this? Are you doing this ? Are you truly a disciple of Christ by the standards of Jesus?

The New Temple

Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 1 Corinthians 3:16

To understand how we are the “New Temple” you must first understand the Old Temple. Before Christ, the Temple was the only place where Gods presence was on Earth. If you wanted to be in the presence of God you needed to come to The Temple.

The Temple was were the High Priests lived and were anointed to make intercession for you. The Temple was the only place where you could make atonement for your sins, which the sacrifice had to be performed by the High Priest

So now fast forward to the New Covenant. When Christ became your High Priest and became the final atonement for your sins. The veil was torn in the Temple and now the presence of God lives inside every Born Again believer in Christ.

Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” John 2:19

When Jesus made this statement, the religious leaders thought he was talking about the physical Temple. However Jesus was talking about his physical body, the New Temple of God. Jesus was talking about his crucifixion and resurrection, being raised up in 3 days!

Now when you accept Christ into your heart, repent of your sins, you become Born Again. The Holy Spirit lives inside of you and your body becomes the New Temple of God.

If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are. 1 Corinthians 3:17

The New Temple of God is a Holy Temple! Meaning keep your body free from sin, sexual immorality, drugs, and alcohol. Keep your Temple Holy because God is Holy, don’t allow your Temple to become desecrated by evil.

God the Holy Spirit lives inside of you, to empower you to flee from sin in Jesus name Amen!

Great Commission

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15
Before Jesus ascended back to Heaven, he gave us “marching orders” called the Great Commission. Preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world! How many Christians are actually doing this?

Well we live in a “Politically Correct” world we don’t want to offend anyone! Wrong, Jesus and all his disciples died for sharing the gospel
Well isn’t this the pastors job? Wrong, the Bible tells us by the blood of Christ we have all been made priests for Christ (Revelation 1:6) (1 Peter 2:9)
So why don’t more Christians obey the Great Commission as Jesus commanded? Biblical Illiteracy. If Jesus is really your Lord, wouldn’t you want to learn more about him? This is what really started my passion for studying the Bible, was just wanting to know everything about Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide and teach you as you study the scriptures

Now I believe God has called certain people to become “Teachers” of the Word of God (James 3:1) however that shouldn’t stop anyone of us from studying the Bible and asking a lot of questions to other Christians and Pastors.

He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. Mark 16:16

The early Apostles were not seminary graduates, meaning you don’t have to go to Bible College to spread the Gospel of Christ. Use your testimony as evidence , keep it simple focusing on the death and resurrection of Christ. Remember we personally don’t save anyone, God saves them. Allow the Holy Spirit to mediate between you and your audience.
Whoever Believes in Jesus will be saved, preach the gospel to everyone in Jesus Name Amen!

Memorial Day

When I think of Memorial Day, I think of one word Sacrifice. Memorial Day is not a day we celebrate victories or even promote our country. But it’s a day we reflect upon the sacrifices made by soldiers, that accomplish those victories and establish our nation.

The word Sacrifice means an act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else more important. When we talk about soldiers making a sacrifice its not just about losing their life, they also sacrificed relationships, sacrificed dreams, sacrificed inner peace, sacrificed marriages , children , and families. Every soldier sacrificed something for the line of duty

So the question is why do we celebrate Memorial Day? Because without the soldiers sacrifice we wouldn’t be able to worship God right now. Without the sacrifice of soldiers we wouldn’t have any of the freedoms that we take for granted today. Right now in China currently, their government in burning down Christian churches, burning Bibles, and imprisoning and killing Christians. There are many other countries throughout the world that persecute people because of their freedoms and beliefs.

So if your grateful for any of the freedoms that you enjoy today, thank a Soldier!, if your grateful you can worship in freedom , thank a soldier. If your thankful you can voice your opinions without persecution or imprisonment , thank a soldier. To deny thanks to these soldiers is to deny your freedom exist

Only God Saves

So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. 1 Corinthians 3:7
Who saved You? Sounds like a simple question, God saved you. However a lot of people tell a different story. They will say “Well this preacher got me to read the Bible” or they will say “this Church led me to Christ” is this really true?
How can you even comprehend the words the preacher was talking about without the Holy Spirit? What made you think going to a Church building was a good idea? It was the Holy Spirt who testifies about Jesus Christ. So ultimately no human ever led you, inspired you, or persuaded you to become saved, only God can save you!
Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building. 1 Corinthians 3:8-9
Am I saying then we have no work to do as Christians then? Absolutely not, we are to be throwing the seed (Word of God), plowing the fields, and laboring for The Lord. But make no mistake about it , God gets all the glory!
The greatest preacher on this planet is just a servant for Jesus Christ! So while there are pastors and theologians wearing expensive suits and autographing books, they are stealing credit from God!
Does this mean there is no free will? Absolutely not! You choose to accept or reject Christ into your heart, you must repent of your sins, and you must obediently follow The Lord Jesus Christ!
But God gets all the glory, without the Holy Spirit we are just a bunch of walking dead! Breathe on us God in Jesus name Amen!

Redeemed

But he began to curse and swear, “I do not know this man you are talking about!” Mark 14:71

Our beloved Peter, the one Jesus renamed from Simon to Cephas which means Rock. For symbolically Jesus was beginning to build his “Church” upon. The one who told Jesus he would never leave him and would even lay down his life for him.

Oh how the mighty have fallen! Peter who gave up everything to follow Jesus, now denied Christ three times among everyone. What happened? The fear of losing his life, the fear of the persecution he would face if he declared that Jesus is his Lord!

Immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him, “Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And he began to weep. Mark 14:72

Peter remembered Jesus predicted this and wept bitterly. Peter is so ashamed of himself, how could he betray his Lord like this! Peter goes into hiding during the whole trial and crucifixion of Christ. Peter has given up hope because he feels like he failed God

Don’t we feel like Peter sometimes? Don’t we feel like we let Jesus down sometimes? Do we go into hiding because of our spiritual failures? Learn how Jesus reacted to Peter

He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Tend My sheep. John 21:17

After Jesus was resurrected he came back looking for Peter. And he asked Peter 3 Times “Do you Love Me?” Peter persistently insisted “Yes Jesus I Love You” then Jesus told him to “Feed His Sheep”! Meaning be “The Rock” Jesus called you to be and preach the gospel

Our Love with the Lord is not a shallow Love, he wont leave or forsake us even when we fail, there is no greater love than Jesus Amen!
