Love Like Jesus #HappyValentinesDay2018

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, Ephesians 5:25

Today as we celebrate Valentine’s Day we reflect on our own marriages, do you love your wife like Jesus loves the church? The first question would be how did Jesus love the Church? Jesus demonstrated his love for us on the cross by willingly giving up his life, even though we didn’t deserve it. Jesus willingly showed us love and mercy, even when we were his enemy. That’s a sacrificial love know as “Agape”

Often as Husbands we talk the talk but don’t walk the walk, true love is a demonstration. We can say whatever we want , for example I can say I’m an amazing musician , however if nobody has ever heard me play, is my claim truthful? This is the same with love, we can claim to love someone, but if we never demonstrate that love, is it truthful?

Again Jesus demonstrated that love for us, by releasing us from the bondages of sin  and death by being the ransom for our sins. Why would Jesus do this? Because he loves us enough to, and we are instructed to love our wives as much as Jesus loves the Church!

Today I celebrate Valentine’s Day with my best friend, my soul mate, and my wife Heidi. As the Bible says when your married “Two Become One Flesh” , she completes me and I couldn’t imagine life without her. Thank you Father God for blessing me with a virtuous wife and wonderful family in Jesus Name Amen!

Happy Valentines Day 2017

And the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Mark 10:8

When we think of Valentine’s Day, we think of a holiday about Love.  But is our vision of Love the same as Gods vision of Love? When God created the covenant of marriage, he stated “the two (man and woman) will become one flesh” meaning marriage is meant to be an eternal covenant. When we understand this principle, we understand the seriousness and commitment of marriage.

Many times when we think of Love, we think of “Love at first sight” but is this truly love or just lust? Anyone who is married knows Love contains a lot more than just attraction. Love is not just a feeling it’s an action also. Can someone truly know you love them if you never do anything for them? No, with Love there also needs to be action. The Bible calls this “Agape” a sacrificial deep love.

So when you understand that you and your spouse are now one, the scripture “Do unto others as you would have them do to you” (Luke 6:31) takes a deeper meaning. When you encourage, praise, and build up your spouse, you’re actually building yourself up also. But when you criticize or bring down your spouse, you’re actually making yourself look bad.  It’s important to remember every action by a married couple effects both partners.

I am blessed to be married to my best friend and wife, Heidi, everything we do, we do as a team. God has blessed us with a wonderful family and we continue to build our home upon “The Rock” the word of God. I pray that God blesses your marriage and family. Just remember that you and your spouse are one and to build your house upon God in Jesus Name Amen
