1 Corinthians 15- Glorification Part 1

But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.  1 Corinthians 15:35-38

To understand our future resurrection into our perfect bodies, better known as glorification, we must first understand the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, as Paul said “Christ is the firstfruits”. Jesus physically died and was physically raised from the dead, some might assume this is common sense, but there are some Christian groups that don’t believe in a physical resurrection.

So then you have to ask yourself, if Christ wasn’t physically raised from the dead, then why would you expect to be physically raised from the dead? Of course we know Jesus Christ physically rose, therefore we have the living hope of the resurrection. As the Apostle Paul asks the question “And with what body do they come”?

The Apostle Paul compares the resurrection to planting seeds of grain, the wheat doesn’t first appear until a seed has been sowed. As Paul states “You sow not the body that you shall be” Meaning you are going to get a glorified body when you are resurrected. A body without sin or death, just as it was meant to be from the beginning

All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 1 Corinthians 15:39-41

We must also understand that we are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) We have not evolved from bacteria or apes, you were made in the image of God, and will have a distinct glorified body as God predestined. God has made different kinds of creatures , including angels, however we were chosen and set apart. We are made in the image of our Creator.

As the Apostle John stated in Revelation “ there will be no more death, sorrow, or pain, the old things have passed away” (Revelation 21:4) And all these promises and hope are guaranteed, because Jesus lives and walked out of that grave! Amen!
