Why Do You Celebrate Christmas?

Why Do You Celebrate Christmas?

Did you know, more than 2 billion people in 160 countries celebrate Christmas.  In the US 90% of people celebrate Christmas, even Atheist.

The word Christmas derived from two words Old English literally meaning Christ (Messiah, Jesus) Mass (Maesse)derived from Latin “missa” which is the celebration of the Eucharist (Lords Supper, Communion)

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Over 700 years before Jesus was born , the prophet Isaiah fortold of his birth. Not only did this prophecy come true, but notice the titles Jesus was given “The Mighty God”

Jesus is God that came in the flesh (John 1:14) who came to take the penalty for our sins so that we may inherit eternal life. This is why we should celebrate Christmas!

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins Matthew 1:21

Jesus came into this world, to save us from our sins. How much does God love you? He loves you enough to die for you! So when we look at Nativity sets, remember the center of it all is Jesus, who is the greatest gift you can ever receive!

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:10-11

The good news (Gospel) is Jesus came to save you from eternal death! Jesus came to set us Free! In that little town of Bethlehem was born Christ The Lord! Would you receive him today ?

Pray with me..Heavenly Father, forgive me for my sin, I receive and declare Jesus as my Lord, fill me with the Holy Spirit so I can live for you and turn away from my sins in Jesus Name Amen!

How Will They Know

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:14

What role do we play in bringing people to Christ? Some might say none as only God can save someone. And this is true only Jesus can save people, however we can plant the seed of the Word of God in people. If people never heard the gospel then how do they become convict of their sin?

This is why Jesus gave us marching orders known as the “Great Commision”, Make disciples of everyone and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19) Why would Jesus command us to preach the gospel if nobody needed to hear it? Jesus needs you to share the good news of his salvation to everyone who believes in Him

And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:15

How beautiful to God are those who preach the gospel of Jesus Christ! The Holy Spirit is tugging on your heart, “Tell this person about Christ” “Share your testimony of Christ with them”, God is sending you to fulfill the Great Commission!

How will anyone know who Jesus is without preachers? Answer the call in Jesus name Amen!

Confess Christ

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9

How can somebody become saved? It must be impossible, but with God all things are possible. Jesus paved the way for all of us to become saved. Saved from what? Saved from your sin, saved from your death, saved from the eternal separation from God

Jesus performed the work on the cross, we just need to put our faith in him and believe. Confess with your mouth, one reason I love the “Lords Prayer” is it’s a profession of our faith in Christ. Baptism is another declaration of your faith in Christ. Everyone who confesses Jesus before others, he will confess you before our Heavenly Father (Matthew 10:32)

Believe in your Heart, The Heart derived from the Greek word “Kardia” means the center core of someone. Do you believe Jesus is Lord and he rose from the dead with all your mind, heart, and soul? Do you hear the Shepherds voice and he knows you as his sheep, you will be saved by Christ alone!

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:10

Its by faith alone in Christ that we are saved! Its not by our works, or what we have done, its by what Jesus has done for us on the cross. For He became sin for us even though He never sinned so that we can become righteous! (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and confess to the world that he is your God and you will be saved Amen!

Happy Veterans Day!

Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

This week we celebrate Veterans Day, to honor our heroes past and present. My Father is a Vietnam Veteran who served 3 years in the Navy, I’m very proud of him for his sacrifice and service he gave to us and this country.

Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice for us on the cross. Some would say Jesus was murdered, however this is not true, Jesus willingly laid down his life for us, to be the ransom for our sins. The ransom that has set us free from our sin so we may inherit eternal life. Notice Jesus calls us his “Friends”. Just as the song says “What a friend we have in Jesus” , he demonstrated his love towards us on the cross.

The original Greek word for Love is “Agape”. This word has a stronger meaning than we normally associate with the English word Love. Notice in the KJV translation they translate Agape as “Charity” that’s because Agape is a sacrificial Love, not a superficial Love that we are used to

We honor and thank our veterans because they have demonstrated their Agape towards us also. Any veteran that has served has sacrificed something. But because of them we have the freedom here in America. If you openly practice your religion, Thank a Veteran!, If you openly voice your opinions, Thank a Veteran! If you just voted the other day, Thank a Veteran! Its because of their sacrifice we have freedom

The same with Jesus Christ, its because of his sacrifice on the cross, that we have been freed from Sin and Death. We have ultimate freedom because of Jesus Christ!

Heavenly Father, we pray for all the Veterans today and their families, we pray you set them free from any bondage or chains they may be troubled with. We pray for the peace and strength of the Holy Spirit to tough their hearts in Jesus Name Amen!

End Of The Law

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Romans 10:4

There are many Christians, even today, that believe we are still living “Under the Law” However if they understood The Law , then they would understand that nobody can be saved by The Law. The Law actually brings death upon everyone, because nobody can fulfill The Law, except One Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ fulfilled The Law, and took our place on that cross. So we can be righteous before God. As it is written Christ is the End of The Law! Now anyone outside of Christ is still under The Law and will perish because of it

Who is saved from The Law? Everyone that believes that Jesus is their personal Lord. Everyone who repents of their sin and becomes baptized with the Holy Spirit. For the Holy Spirit writes the Law of God on our hearts, so we may live for Christ

For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.  Romans 10:5

Now since Jesus fulfilled The Law for them who abide in him, does that mean The Law is not relevant to the Christian? I would say No, we must remember The Law is a reflection of Gods nature. To live as Christ is to be in communion with God. This is why baptism by the Holy Spirit is the only way to follow Jesus

The Holy Spirit writes The Law on your heart to equip you to follow Jesus , however you are no longer under The Law because of the blood of Christ. The Triunity of God keeps us in perfect unison with God, for Christ is the end of the Law for everyone who is Born Again Amen!

Faith Alone

Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. Romans 9:32

How do we become saved? Its by faith alone and not by our works! Many people, even today, still don’t understand this. You cant work your way into Heaven, you cant earn your own salvation. Its only by the works of Jesus Christ that we are saved! By Faith Alone in Jesus Christ, that’s what saves us, not the works of the law

Jesus said “We will be known by the fruit we produce” this fruit it doesn’t save us, it’s the evidence of our transformation. A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. Works can’t bring you salvation, however the salvation of Jesus produces works in you

As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Romans 9:33

Jesus is the Chief Cornerstone and whoever puts their faith in him will be saved. Christ needs to be your foundation for everything, without him your life is unstable. Without a foundation to build upon, your house of cards will eventually crumble

How do you become saved? Faith alone in Jesus Christ! It is Finished at the cross, become Born Again by the cleaning of his blood, and the power of the Holy Spirit Amen!

God Is In Control

For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. Romans 9:15-16

Who can be saved? Only God knows! Who is actually saved? Only God knows! Many will argue this is unjust for God not to allow someone to come to salvation, but who are we to say if something is just? Can we save ourselves? Of course not, only by the blood of Christ can we be brought back to life. Then why do think we know even how to become saved?

Just as God said to Moses “I AM who I AM” meaning “I’ll be who I want to be” we are the clay and he is the potter. Can a creation tell its Creator how things work? Why do we believe we can tell God how things should work?

For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Romans 9:17

The Apostle Paul uses Pharaoh as an example of someone God raised up to fulfill his will of freeing the Israelites from slavery of Egypt. Now from our human perspective we might say “This is not Just” or “How is it fair to Pharaoh?” However since we are limited by time and space, we can’t see the beginning from the end. God is eternal , he knows your entire life before you were even born

Trust in Jesus Christ, not yourself. God is in control, he knows the beginning and the end, trust in Jesus Amen!
