Servant of Christ

But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” Mark 10:38

Leonard Ravenhill once said “So you really want to be like Jesus?” Most Christians would probably answer Yes, but as Ravenhill then points out, are we willing to go 40 days and night in the desert with no food and being tempted by Satan himself? Probably not, point is there is a reason why Jesus is the Son of God and why we are his servants. We cant lose focus of that as Christians

The Zebedee Brothers (Sons of Thunder) James and John lost this focus. They got so wrapped up in what they were accomplishing for God, that they believed they could sit at the right hand of Jesus. Jesus said to them “You don’t even know what your asking”

But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. Mark 10:43-44

Jesus tried to explain to his disciples , the way the Kingdom of God works is a lot different then the way the world works. If you want to be great in Gods Kingdom, then be a servant! Who wants to be a servant? Exactly it goes against our human flesh and logic. We want to be a King where God is making us to be a servant.

Many ministries start off with good intentions and then they lose focus. Then end up becoming more ego drive then Christ centered. Don’t forget who you are, a servant of Jesus Christ! Humble yourself and you will be exalted by God Amen!

Glory GLORY!!!! What an awesome message brother! So right on!!!!!
I too find it funny how many “including yours truly” :), says Oh yes,I will follow You Lord!
Then when we are faced with opposition we immediately go on the defense! We just failed in following in Christ’s footsteps. The devil is very crafty,he knows what will get your hair-up and most of the time he wins at God’s expense. We go round and round in the repenting department!
It takes a certain type of seriousness to follow Jesus and truly become His. I walk each day wanting to honor God with all
do and yet I fail Him at some point during the day. Too many times the reason we fall short is that we joke around with the world instead of being set apart from it! We as humans have a will to be accepted and loved by others. I see it all the time on social media. We can be just as stubborn as the unsaved can be because we know that trait very well ourselves. It’s a stronghold that’s not easily done away with. Look at what it took Peter to shed his stubbornness. Jesus asking him 3 times DO YOU LOVE ME???? Ouch, how many times does Jesus ask us that question…how many times do we answer Yes to Him and then forget about why we wander in our own wilderness!

    Shalom Alechem brother! ❤
