Face To Face

Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses returned to the camp, his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent. Exodus 33:11

Here is a very interesting scripture for several reasons. First it says that Moses spoke with God “Face to Face”. Now at first you would believe this is an idiom as the Apostle John said “Nobody has seen God” However when you examine the original Hebrew word “panim” it means exactly Face

So the scripture is clear that Moses spoke to God “Face to Face” just as a friend. Since God is a Spirit (John 4:24) the logical conclusion is Moses was speaking to Jesus Christ!

The second interesting thing about the word “panim” or Face is that its plural in the Hebrew. Meaning God is not singular but Triune. Just as God said “Let Us Make man in Our image” (Genesis 1:26) Just as when Abraham was approached by Three Men before they destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18) God is a Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)

Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” Exodus 33:18

But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!” Exodus 33:20

God tells Moses that his presence will be among the people. Moses asks God to reveal his complete Glory. The interesting thing here when God says nobody can see “My Face” it’s a different Hebrew word “panay” meaning a Singular version of Face. Meaning you cant see The Father because of our corrupted state as human

No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. John 1:8

So when the Apostle John says “Nobody has ever seen God “ the Greek word for God here is “Theon” which is Singular, probably referring to the Father. However they have seen the Son (Jesus) who Moses also saw

As Jesus said “If you have seen me you have seen the Father” (John 14:9) Moses met Christ “Face to Face” and he delivered them as he also delivered us on the cross Amen!

One day brother about 2 yrs ago I was sitting in my den, feeling pretty sad about something that had happened in my family and I was crying out to God. It was still dark out around 4 am. Sometimes when I pray I look out the window and that’s when I saw God’s Shekinah glory! When He exposes His Shekinah glory to someone it’s like looking straight at Him!I I fell to me knees in utter AWE! My spirit went from sad to JOY and I was filled with some much JOY that tears ran down my face like a faucet was turned on. After a few moments of gazing upon Him I reached for some markers and tried to draw what I saw,it dims greatly to what God was showing me but none the less I believe I was looking right at Him! The vision He showed me that day was seared on my mind and in my heart! He does show Himself from time to time 🙂

    Sweet Shalom brother ❤
