New Covenant

By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear. Hebrews 8:13

When Jesus said “It is Finished” on the cross, the new covenant was officially instated. The wages of sin had been paid by the blood of Jesus Christ

However confusion on the Old and New Covenant has been a never ending debate among Christians. Some Christians feel the need to carry on “Old Covenant” traditions in order to stay in good favor with God. But they don’t understand this “New Covenant” is for everyone and not just the Jewish people as before.

Jesus said he has fulfilled the law (Matthew 5:17) what does that mean? Well under the Old Covenant unless you were Jewish, you had no hope for salvation. Traditions such as circumcision have set Jews apart to be Gods chosen people.

But under the “New Covenant” we all have hope for salvation through Jesus Christ. Instead of physical circumcision we are spiritually circumcised. God reads the minds and hearts, your religious traditions can’t save you from the penalty of sin. Only the blood of Christ can wash away our transgressions.

As God promised he sent his Holy Spirit to baptize all of us and be our guide to have “The Law” in our hearts. No longer are we slaves to sin as Jesus freed us from the wrath of The Law in Jesus Name Amen

Indeed we are not made children through the old covenant. We are made children in the new covenant sailed in the blood of Jesus. Let us look critically at the old and the new covenant – the focus of the promise on which the old covenant is based is directed at success in this present world while, the focus of the promise on which the new covenant is based is directed at the success in the world yet to come. Now for us to continue to enjoy the blessings that flows from Abraham our father, the old covenant cannot be removed. Rather it is wrapped into the new covenant (fulfil in the new covenant) . We are not functioning under the old covenant but remember Jesus said seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be add unto you. It is clear that the kingdom of God and his righteousness stand for the new covenant while all these things refer to the benefits from the old covenant.
