Happy Anniversary!

AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. Mark 10:8

Today is me and my wife’s anniversary, married 12 years ago on the shore of Jamaica. We’ve been together for 20 years now and it would be hard to imagine life without her. We complete each other, and she’s supported me and brought out the best of me. And with our wonderful kids, we have built a family that feel so blessed to be part of and thank God every day.

When people say “their better half” this is from the principle in The Bible “Two become One Flesh”. When you get married you make a covenant with your spouse under God that is sealed by your confession of your love for each other. Specifically, your wedding vows. When you say your wedding vow, you’re making a confession or proclamation of your covenant with your spouse.

“What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.” Mark 10:9

Marriage is full of love and joy, however there will be times when your marriage is tested. That’s when you are your spouse should stay united and let no one separate you. When you continue to practice the principle “Two become One Flesh” you understand whatever you do to harm your spouse , harms you.

I thank God that he led me and Heidi to find each other. And he blessed us with our two children. I’m thankful that he gave me the opportunity to be a husband and a Father, and pray that I can continue to lead, support, defend, and encourage this family with love in Jesus Name Amen!

Flesh vs Spirit

For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, Romans 8:6

We live with a battle between the flesh and the Spirit. The question is which one are you going to let win? We must remember that we are born sinners (Romans 3:23) and its our natural instinct to want to feed the flesh. We feed the flesh through food, sex, power, violence, ect.

But to live by The Spirit is life and peace. If all you do is allow yourself to be controlled by the flesh, you will be consumed with the wages of your sins. You need to allow The Holy Spirit, to help guide you to live righteously otherwise if you allow the flesh to control you, you will live carnally minded.

Jesus said in Matthew 4:4 “Man can’t live on bread alone, but on the Word of God” , Jesus was saying we can’t just live to feed our flesh, we need to feed our Spirit.  The only way we can feed our Spirit is through God, reading his word, praying, spending time with him. If we only focus on feeding our physical needs, we will be misled by the world.

This is why repentance is a transformation. It’s not just a confession that Jesus is your Lord and Savior but I change in your heart and mind. When you live and walk by The Spirit there will be eternal life and peace, but to continue to live by the flesh is sin and death.

God Is With You

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. Isaiah 43:2

Are you going through a difficult time right now? Let’s remember and meditate on the promises and the victories that our Heavenly Father has already delivered for us today. You need to remember, whatever you’re going through, you’re not going through it alone. God is with you and will deliver you if you have faith in him.

We reflect on when Moses led the Israelites through the Red Sea, a task that seemed humanely impossible. When they looked in front they saw deep waters that would drown them, when they looked behind them, they saw an Army looking to destroy them. But when they looked up, they saw a supreme God , creator of the Heaven and Earth, that can make the impossible possible.

We remember the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who were thrown into the blazing fire because they refused to worship the false gods of Babylon. Even though they were engulfed into the blazing fire, not a single hair on their heads were hurt. Because God stood beside them in the fire, and didn’t leave or forsake them.

Be encouraged by these words and stories from God. If God is with us, then who can be against us in Jesus Name Amen!

Least of These

If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? James 2:15-16

Can you be a Christian without helping anyone? Often we spend a lot of time pursing our own salvation, that we don’t take the time to care for the simple needs of others. If we’re going to preach the gospel we also got to be walking the gospel. Meaning live as Jesus commanded us to live and not be so self-focused and centered.

“Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? ‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25: 38-40

Jesus taught about this, whatever you did for the “lest of these” you did for him. Meaning if you met Christ today , what would your reaction be? You would probably willingly serve him whatever he wanted, this is how Jesus wants you to view other people also. Show compassion towards other people. Jesus himself washed the feet of his own disciples, helping others in need is not above you, no matter who you are.

It’s better to give than receive (Acts 20:35) This is a concept that is hard for our carnally driven minds to understand, but giving is more rewarding than receiving. When we talk about “giving” we automatically think about money. But even if we have no money, we can give other things to help others. We can give someone a ride, or give someone your time , talk to someone who is lonely or in crisis.

This is what Jesus was talking about when he said “We are the Light of the world and Salt of The Earth”. There is an estimated 2.2 billion Christians on The Earth, if everyone makes it a point to help one person everyday, we are helping billions of people a day. Think about that in Jesus Name Amen

Torah

I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart.” Psalm 40:8

Can we delight in doing “The Law” of God? Often when people think of “The Law” or “Torah” of God, they think about condemnation or judgement. This is mostly your conscience talking, because you are guilty of sin.  But truly “The Law” or “Torah” was given to us by God as a road map to holiness.

The Hebrew meaning of the word “Torah” means direction, instruction, and teaching. The Torah is a roadmap laid out by your Heavenly Father so you can lead a peaceful and productive life. Billions of people around the world seek religions or read books looking for direction and enlightenment, God provides all of this in his “Torah”

Another reason for Torah is to define sin. Sin is obviously the downfall of mankind and what keeps us separated from God. So how would we know what sin is, unless it was defined in Gods “Torah”. Is God telling you this to condemn you, No he’s telling you these things to instruct you, to warn you, to keep you away from harm.

Just as a parent instructs their children, God is our Heavenly Father, and provides instructions for us to live a productive life. Now over time religion has abused the “Torah” and used it as a tool to condemn and control people. However the Bible tells us we are all guilty of sin. So does following the Torah make us righteous, No, only through Jesus Christ can we be made righteous.

However Gods Law or Torah , still should be the foundation for our life to follow, we are not perfect and are going to make mistakes, the blood of Christ has paid for our sins, the Word of God should be the lamp for our feet in Jesus Name Amen

All Things New

“Behold, the former things have come to pass, Now I declare new things; Before they spring forth I proclaim them to you.” Isaiah 42:9

What hope do you have for the future? Do you put your hope in working hard or maybe buying a lottery ticket? Well, God has promised to make all things new, the former things will pass away. So, what does that mean exactly? Well if you look currently, we have a lot of issues facing our future.

First issue is death, no matter how much money you have or successful you are, you can’t defeat death. But we have a savior who has defeated death for you and me. Not only that during the Resurrection we will be given perfect and immortal bodies, the way things were meant to be before sin entered the world

Second issue is The Earth, our homeland. Obviously, we have lots of issues with our planet including pollution, famine, and natural disasters. Well God has promised to create us a New Heaven and Earth, that way it was back in the Garden of Eden before Satan corrupted our Earth.

Third issue, disease, addiction, depression, anxiety, pain, ect. These will all be abolished. All the traps that keep you in chains today will be broken. No longer will have to worry about that illness or addiction you are battling. They have been defeated!

The former things are passing away, God is making all things new through Jesus Christ Amen!
