Like A Dove

And the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Luke 3:22

Why did the Holy Spirit descend in the form of a dove? Was this a prophetic sign from God?

In Hebrew the meaning of the name Jonah is Dove. There was a reason the Spirit came down in the form of a dove, it was a prophetic sign from our Heavenly Father about the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth Matthew 12:40

Jesus prophesied about this later also in his ministry. He mentions Jonah who spent 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the whale. Jesus was prophesying about his death and spending 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of The Earth. Just as Jonah rised out of the whale after 3 days and saved Nineveh, Jesus rose from the grave and conquered death and sin.

Just as the dove left Noahs Ark and returned to send the message that the world has been saved (Genesis 8:11) Jesus has saved the world from our sins, look for the signs from our Heavenly Father in Jesus Name Amen

I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasuries full. Proverbs 8:20-21

Jesus is the Truth, Life, and The Way nobody comes to The Father without going through him. He came to make the crooked paths straight, to give hope to the hopeless. If you love him you will keep his commandments and inherit eternal life.

The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be. Proverbs 8:22-23

Jesus is the image of the invisible God , the firstborn over all creation. In the beginning was The Word, who is the beginning and the end

Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. Proverbs 8:34

Jesus opened the eyes of the blind, he is the gatekeeper. Knock on the door and he will answer. But narrow is the way to righteousness. For many are called but few are chosen

For those who find me find life and receive favor from the LORD. Proverbs 8:35

Anyone who calls upon the name of Jesus, shall be saved. He is the living water, the bread of life. Follow him and thirst and hunger no more. For Jesus is Gods son, in whom he is well pleased. Believe in him and receive favor in Jesus Name Amen

The Blessed Life

So that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. Deuteronomy 6:2

What was the purpose of Gods Law? Is God just trying to control us? When we talk about the Law of God and sin, people quickly become resistant. Why? Because everyone feels like God is trying to control them or take away their pleasure. But Gods commands are just as he says “So we may enjoy a long life”. As we know the wages of sin are death, but those who seek life will follow God.

Many say they love God but don’t follow any of his commands, as Jesus said if you love him you will keep his commandments (John 14:15) Does an unruly child show love to a parent by disobedience? No, we train up a child in the way they should go so they will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6) It’s the same with our Heavenly Father, he wants us to live a prosperous and happy life, but disobedience and sin will only lead to sorrow and destruction

God is Love (1 John 4:8) not a dictator, even the angels in Heaven have free will, otherwise Lucifer would have never rebelled (Isaiah 14:12) But there are consequences for all our actions, one day we will be held accountable for all our actions. (Matthew 12:36) Your destiny can be determined by You, for everyone who calls upon The Lord shall be saved in Jesus Name Amen
