If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1
What is our motive for doing good? Is our motive to check some boxes off or is our motive actually love? This is very important to remember in our ministries or churches, because its easy to forget why God saved us to begin with.
We can have lots of knowledge about the Bible, we can study Theology and Apologetics, however if there is no love behind our motivation than its pointless. How can we show people Christ died for us because he loved us, when we don’t love ourselves? If you truly believe Christ died for your sins because of love, shouldn’t you love others also?
If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:2
Paul goes on to say without Love we are nothing! We can have the “gift of prophecy” or “faith that moves mountains” but if you’re a hateful person, your ministry is pointless. You can preach the greatest messages but if there is no love in you, your just a noisy gong
And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:3
You can go through all the motions, and do the “Churchy” things that are expected. But if your heart is full of hate it profits you nothing! Were not going to be able to reach anyone with the gospel without the Love of Christ. What is the Love of Christ?
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Even when we were rebellious, blasphemous, wicked, wretched, horrible people, Jesus still showed mercy towards us and died for us. That is true love, that is the Love of Christ. If we cant humble ourselves and learn from Jesus, then our conversion is worthless

my pastor literally just preached this! Good stuff!

I agree. Works are nothing if your heart isn’t truly into it.
