Birth Pains

And Jesus began to say to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He!’ and will mislead many. Mark 13:5-6

While Jesus was talking about the destruction of the Temple, one of his disciples asked him
“What will be the signs for the end”? “When will the end come?”  Jesus said “Many” will come in his name and mislead “Many”

So how do we know if we are being misled? The first rule of thumb is if a groups doctrine doesn’t line up with scripture, don’t believe it! This is why many groups and cults want to discredit the Bible. If you can discredit the Bible, then you lose that solid foundation of true Christianity.

Most “cult” groups have additional teachings on top of the Bible. This should be a red flag for you, let the Holy Spirit interpret scripture for you. Cult groups who make their literature as sacred as the Bible are typically false teachers. Examples are the Watchtower, Book of Mormons, 28 Fundamental Beliefs, ect.

When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.  Mark 13:7-8

Often every time we see a war or conflict between nations, everyone is yelling “End of the World”, but Jesus said these things will happen and are merely birth pains for the Great Tribulation yet to come. Many cult groups jump on these end time fears to scare followers in believing their doctrine.

This is where our true faith in Christ comes in, don’t be misled by false teachers or cult groups, you are saved by the blood of Christ! Trust in the Word of God and not the words of man! Amen!

Poor Widow

Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury; Mark 12:43

It came time for everyone to put there offering in the box, all the rich people lined up to give there big amounts to show how great they were. But here came a poor widow who only put in 2 small copper coins. The rich people in line probably rolled their eyes, scoffed, and gossiped about her after the service

But this poor widow caught the attention of Christ. First of all remember back in the 1rst Century there was no welfare, there was no social security, this woman being a widow meant her husband was dead, and she had no steady income coming into her home

for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on.” Mark 12:44

The rich people it didn’t hurt them to give a little that they had, but for the poor widow whatever she gave was all that she had. Jesus is pointing out that giving is a heart issue! Its not about the amount you give but its about the attitude in which you give it

Do you truly trust in God to be your provider? Or do you rely on your wealth to provide for you? This widow gave all she had to God and put her faith in him, are we willing to do the same with all aspects of our lives?  Amen!

Army of Angels

So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 2 Kings 6:16

Picture this, the Prophet Elisha and the city of Dothan (2 Kings 6:13)  was surrounded by the Arameans army. This seemed like certain doom for all of them and a servant asked Elisha “What should we do”?

Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:17

Notice Elisha’s response, he prayed that the Arameans would be able to see the spiritual world. And when God opened their eyes, they saw a large army surrounding Elisha and the Israelites. The Army of Angels that nobody could see with there human eye were always there

The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands; the Lord has come from Sinai into his sanctuary. Psalm 68:17

Don’t believe that you are walking alone, God has an army of thousands upon thousands of angels surrounding you ready to do war with Satan and his demons. God will never leave or forsake you! Just as he never left Elisha to be overtaken by the enemy

So next time your facing a battle and you feel alone, call upon the Lord Jesus Christ and his army of angels will be by your side Amen!

Line of David

And Jesus began to say, as He taught in the temple, “How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David? Mark 12:35

The Messianic Prophecies reveal that the Messiah (Christ) will be from the line of David. This obviously brought confusion among the religious leaders as they were expecting a literal biological Son of David to rise up and become King. However how would that Son possibly be God in the Flesh then if he was just a descendant of David?

This is one of the fun things about studying the fulfilment of prophecy. We have in our minds how God will fulfill something when God has a totally different way that we have trouble comprehending.

“David himself said in the Holy Spirit, ‘THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, “SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES BENEATH YOUR FEET.”‘ David himself calls Him ‘Lord’; so in what sense is He his son?” And the large crowd enjoyed listening to Him. Mark 12:36-37

Jesus goes on to teach that King David, filled with the Holy Spirit, called the Messiah Lord. Now if the Messiah was truly Davids biological Son he wouldn’t be calling him Lord as that would not be appropriate. A Father would not call a Son Lord, a Son would call a Father Lord.

However David was addressing Jesus as Lord not one of his Sons. So how is Jesus from the Line of David you ask? Well Joseph and Mary are both from the line of David, and during the Census in Bethlehem (City of David) Joseph registered Jesus as his Son, making him from the Line of David

Jesus being God in the Flesh could not come from a biological Father, he was conceived in Mary by the Holy Spirit and fulfilled the prophecies of the Line of David. Gods thoughts are higher than our thoughts and ways are higher than our ways! Amen!

Salvation for Everyone

And He began to speak to them in parables: “A man PLANTED A VINEYARD AND PUT A WALL AROUND IT, AND DUG A VAT UNDER THE WINE PRESS AND BUILT A TOWER, and rented it out to vine-growers and went on a journey. At the harvest time he sent a slave to the vine-growers, in order to receive some of the produce of the vineyard from the vine-growers. Mark 12:1-2

The parable of the Vine Growers or Wicked Tenants is basically about the gospel of Jesus Christ.  The planter is God the Father, the vine growers is Israel. Harvest Time throughout the Bible is always symbolic of a special season from God. The slave (servant) that was sent is symbolic of the prophets of the Old Testament

They took him, and beat him and sent him away empty-handed. Again he sent them another slave, and they wounded him in the head, and treated him shamefully. “And he sent another, and that one they killed; and so with many others, beating some and killing others. Mark 12:3-5

We keep seeing time after time, over and over again. God would send a prophet and the rebellious people (vine growers) would either beat or kill the prophet. No matter who they sent Moses, Elijah, Isaiah, or Jeremiah. The people would rebel against the Word of God and abuse the prophets

He had one more to send, a beloved son; he sent him last of all to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’But those vine-growers said to one another, ‘This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours!’They took him, and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard. Mark 12:6-8

Finally, God would send his Son (Jesus Christ) surely the people would listen to him! But no they rejected him, tortured him, and nailed him to a cross! God was in the flesh and lived among them, yet they didn’t recognize him nor listen to him!

What will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the vine-growers, and will give the vineyard to others. Mark 12:9

Salvation is not only for the Jewish people anymore, God so loved the whole world that he sent his Son Jesus Christ to free us all from sin and death!  Everyone who calls upon the name of Jesus shall be saved! Amen!
