Do We Have A Soul Part 3

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:3

If we deny the existence of a soul, how does Jesus teaching on becoming Born Again make any sense? If all we are is flesh and bone, than Jesus teaching here would totally contradict himself.

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 3:5-6

First Jesus is teaching about the 2 baptisms that occur, first the baptism of water which is the repentance of sin and profession of our faith. The second baptism is of the Holy Spirit, which seals and lives inside you as a Born Again believer

Jesus then talks about the two births, birth of flesh and birth of spirit. Its obvious they are separate from one another. As we quoted Genesis earlier “God formed Adam from the dust and then gave him the Breath of Live, his Spirit” (Genesis 2:7) We are body and soul, Jesus is talking about the regeneration of our soul

If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? John 3:12

Again Jesus is speaking of the physical (earthly) and the spiritual (heavenly) realms. If you don’t believe in the spiritual , how can you understand God? You cant, you must understand that there is more than just a physical universe. If we didn’t have a soul, this teaching by Jesus would make no sense

Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1 Peter 1:22-23

The Apostle Peter summarizes Jesus teaching perfectly. The purification of your soul is being Born Again. So if we don’t have a soul , how does Peters teaching make any sense? Peter is using the same Greek word here “Psyche”

Being Born Again not of corruptible seed (human body) but of the incorruptible (Soul)

It’s a nice discussion. First God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Jesus said the word that I speak thy are spirit and they are life. It was the Spirit that moved upon the waters after the Word spoke (let there be … and there was). The Bible also said it is the spirit that quickeneth the flesh profit nothing.
We are spiritual being we possess a soul and dwell in a body. Even though we live in a body God want us to live out a spiritual experience.
Another thing we could look at it the fact that we are oppose by another spirit call the devil which is a spirit being. He tries to divert us out of the will of God so we don’t get have the spiritual experience God want us to have.
Because of the fall of man we need regeneration or the new birth and we must be born of the spirit to see the kingdom of God and also have the true spiritual experience.
