Another Jesus? #UMC

But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully. 2 Corinthians 11:3-4

Is the Methodist Church preaching another Jesus? Methodist Bishop,  Dr. Karen Oliveto, who is an open lesbian married to a woman , who also a deacon in her church, has said this about Jesus

“If Jesus can change, if he can give up his bigotries and prejudices, if he can realize that he had made his life too small, and if, in this realization, he grew closer to others and closer to God, than so can we.”

The Bishop Karen, who oversees over 400 Methodist churches,  directly called Jesus a bigot and prejudice. This would imply that Jesus was sinful and not God in the flesh. How could Jesus be the Messiah or Lamb of God if he was a bigot? Basically, the UMC is introducing a new heresy that is stating Jesus is just another prophet like many cults and false religions

“Too many folks want to box Jesus in, carve him in stone, create an idol out of him. But this story cracks the pedestal we’ve put him on. The wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting one, prince of peace, was as human as you and me. Like you and me, he didn’t have his life figured out. He was still growing, maturing, putting the pieces together about who he was and what he was supposed to do. We might think of him as the Rock of Ages, but he was more like a hunk of clay, forming and reforming himself in relation to God.

In another interview Bishop Karen went on to say we should not create an idol out of Jesus. Basically saying we shouldn’t worship Christ, are you serious? Does she understand the Methodist Church is supposed to be Christian? This is a direct denial of Jesus deity by a Bishop of the Methodist Church.

I emailed a superintendent of the UMC to see if her doctrine was accepted by the church. I wont give his name but he fully supported her new doctrine and even went on to give me a sermon to support her. Its clear the UMC is introducing a new heretical doctrine to remove the deity of Christ and support their homosexual agenda.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears (4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned into fables. ( 2 Timothy 4:3-4)

The Bible clearly warns us about this.

I laughed reading those statements of her while reading. Not because it’s funny, but because she did not read that from the holy bible. Wondering where did she read about Jesus.? But it is sad that people will twist truth and label it love…wow! But the Word warned us of this…

I understand that, the denomination is in turmoil right now, as you know, but I know that, currently, that is not the position of the denomination proper as it has not been voted on in general conference and amended to the statement of faith. And not all churches within the denomination follow every jot and tittle of the denomination either.

I’m not defending her, I also have problems with the UMC overall. I’m just telling you that you should not blanketly put every UMC church in that grouping because not every church believes or follows that. You can say well they are the same organization, but it is much more complicated than that.

Again, not that simple. You can get off your self-righteousness now. My church is closer to baptist than UMC. There are issues with leaving the UMC though due to properties, and other legal issues. So it’s not as simple as you think. You are really quick with condemnation.

Actually I literally just had a conversation with my pastor and no, not in agreement. We live in a conservative rural area. Our district is very conservative. So again, you shouldn’t make blanket statements and pass judgement on things you don’t know about.

It should also be noted that one bishop does not speak for the whole denomination. They aren’t like the Pope.

It should also be noted that she is one of the reasons for the Special Conference happening next month. This will likely divide the UMC into separate churches I am sure.
