“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land. Jeremiah 23:5
As we continue to look at the Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament, this week we will focus on the book of Jeremiah. These prophecies were written about 600 years before the birth of Jesus Christ. By the Holy Spirit, Jeremiah was given a clear description of the Messiah
During the time when Jeremiah revealed “Behold the days are coming when God will raise up a righteous branch (Messiah). This was very hopeful news for Israel during this time period. Israel continued to struggle with its sin and idolatry , leading them farther and farther away from God. The revelation Jeremiah delivered gave those who were still faithful to God, hope for the future.
This is the same for us today. As we see the world move farther away from God and people are indulged and justifying their sin. Those of us who are still faithful to God can have hope knowing that Jesus Christ has delivered us and those days are right now
As the prophecy reveals to us Jesus would be from the line of David (Joseph) (Matthew 1) and will reign as King of King (Revelation 19:16) forevermore. Celebrate this season as glory to the new born king in Jesus Name Amen
