Happy Sabbath Day!

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8

God has commanded us to remember the Sabbath Day and to Keep it Holy, are Christians still doing this? Many Christians will say, Yes I got to Church every Sunday, however we need to remember that the Sabbath is actually on Saturday and not Sunday.  Many Christians call Sunday the Sabbath but that is actually Biblical incorrect.

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. Genesis 2:2

On the 7th day God rested and created the Sabbath Day. Saturday is the 7th day of the week, which is truly the Sabbath. So what activities do you usually do on a Saturday? Do you keep it Holy?

Why do most Christians recognize Sunday as the Sabbath? Well long story short, when Rome took over Christianity, Constantine changed the Sabbath to Sunday officially to please the pagen worship on the Sun God. There are tons of websites that document this , you can research it

And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. Mark 2:27-28

So what did Jesus say about the Sabbath? Many claim the Sabbath doesn’t matter anymore because Jesus healed people on it. So lets break down what Jesus was saying here

The Sabbath was made for man (US) and not (US) for the Sabbath, Therefor the Son of Man (Jesus) is Lord also on the Sabbath

So what Jesus is saying, the Sabbath was made for us to observe not him. Jesus is Lord, he doesn’t need to observe the Sabbath , we do out of obedience.

So what are your thoughts? Do you truly believe your keeping the Sabbath Holy?

“Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, ‘Master, which is the great commandment in the law?’
Jesus said unto him, ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.'” Matthew 22:35-40
I do believe the 10 commandments are guidelines. We are not to live under the law. We obey all 10 because we think it helps us grow closer to the Lord. We do keep a Sabbath day, to praise and worship Him and for us to rest. We generally don’t do much on Sundays, knowing we really need to rest!

This was interesting post. I believe we need to use every day as the sabbath. When I think of the sabbath I think of rest and I think every day we need to rest in Jesus because he is the one we have to have the faith in. Love this post!
