The Power of The Holy Spirit

And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling.   1 Corinthians 2:1-3

At one time Paul hated Christianity, as many people in the world do today. But when Jesus revealed himself and the truth to Paul he was transformed. Paul was not a weak man by any standard, but when he came face to face with Lord Jesus Christ he dropped to his knees and became his servant.

My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. 1 Corinthians 2:4-5

Many will say they don’t understand God, or they don’t understand the Bible. That’s because you have not asked God for his wisdom thru the Holy Spirit.  All wisdom comes from God and he comforts, teaches, and empowers us thru the Holy Spirit

We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 1Corinthians 2:6-8

This world is temporary and all the kingdoms and nations will fall and be ruled under the King of Kings , Jesus Christ. God has had a plan to restore this world since the book of Genesis, and he is going to carry out that plan whether you believe or not.

However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him– these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 9-10

How can our human minds comprehend the awesomeness of God? He speaks planets into existence, he breathes life into dust. Don’t rely on your own wisdom to figure out God, rely on the Holy Spirit.

For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 1 Corinthians 11-12

The Holy Spirit is a gift from God, but it will only be giving to you if you ask God for it. We have free will and nothing is forced upon us, if you truly seek life and knowledge, ask God for his Holy Spirit to be poured upon you.

This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words 1 Corinthians 2:13

When I read books like Psalms 22 or Isaiah 55 it brings shivers down my spine. Thousands of years before Jesus even existed, his crucifixion was written about. How could David or Isaiah know any of this? The Holy Spirit

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16

Without the Holy Spirit The Bible seems foolish, but if you truly thirst for knowledge, if you truly want eternal life. Seek and you shall find it, knock and the door shall be opened. Ask God for his wisdom of the Holy Spirit today and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior Amen

When I read the eloquence of Peter in the New Testament and then think back to the brash over-confident fisherman he was I know it is the work of the Holy Spirit. He changes and transforms us little by little. Yet He still uses the essential bit that is us! He takes the rough stone and makes it smooth! But the heart, the nub is still us. Thanks be to God.
