Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Matthew 7:16

 

Many people claim to be a Christian but how do you know the false from the real followers? Check the fruit there bearing. What does that mean to check there fruit? Simple someone who is supposed to be following God should be living a Godly life. How is there family life? Blessed or a mess? How about there finances? You can tell a lot about a person buy there lifestyle, remember actions speak louder than words.

(Luke 6:43) “For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.”

 

What a true statement in this scripture, if you truly are a Christian then you won’t be living a life or corruption and chaos. Yes we are all sinners but we hold ourselves to a higher standard. As a Christian you do the right thing even when it’s hard. Christians who continually live in sin cannot truly be a Christian. You are either following Christ or not.

(Psalm 92:12) “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.”

 

Many fools believe the only way to flourish in this world is to follow the world, but God is our provider. However some peoples idea of flourishing may be different. If you only wish to obtain wealth and possessions then follow the world. But if you want to flourish with Peace and Life follow God.

Think about the Palm tree in this scripture, nobody how harsh or rough the storm is the Palm Tree will bend but never break.  Think about the roots of the tree also, the deeper our faith the deeper our roots will be.

(Matthew 7:19) “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”

 

Make no mistake we will be held accountable for our actions or fruit we bear. If we live a life of sin or bear bad fruit, we are then following the ways of Satan and not God. Sin does not come from God nor is it part of his plan. When we decide to bear bad fruit then you decided not to follow God.

        I agree, absolutely. I was just trying to make a point about distinguishing between fact and belief (or, in some cases, the lack of distinguishing between the two).

        If you truly had a relationship with Jesus you wouldn’t doubt..sounds like you need to talk to God more intimately also I recommend watching the documentary on the Shroud of Jesus since you have little faith

        Each of us has their own truth based on our own faith and belief. So while you may think that I have a lack of faith, that’s because of how you define faith and what you believe is true. I happen to believe in God, but I define Him differently than you do; and I hold my definition to be true just as you hold your definition to be true (and the one and only Word of God). Good luck to you in walking your path to the Creator.

      Hi there chicagoja,

      I sense that there might be a little bit of miscommunication going on here. I’m most certainly no expert on the matter (just your average person who desires to grow spiritually and please God), but maybe I can attempt to address the concerns you have.

      As far as plain evidence, it’s everywhere–through the complexity and magnificence of nature (Psalm 19:1-6, Rom 1:20), through personal experiences, through miracles, through the historical evidence documented in the Bible by witnesses (Psalm 19:7-14), through the Holy Spirit who dwells within us and opens our eyes to our sins and provides us peace and assurance through our faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ (who took and paid the punishment that we deserved, and in so, reconciled us to God).

      HOWEVER, if you’re looking for evidence that is irrefutable for all mankind, I don’t think we’ll see that until Christ’s second coming on Judgment Day, when He will reveal himself to all. If such evidence existed (which actually in a sense does, but there are some nuances, see next paragraph), wouldn’t we all believe in Jesus Christ?

      Some might wonder, then, whether the belief we hold is just all “in our head.” The answer to that would be no. The question is not whether the evidence exists, but rather whether all can SEE the evidence that already exists. To illustrate, someone can put a red mug in front of a group of people, and one person might say it’s red, a colorblind person might say it’s gray, and another person looking at a different cup might say that the cup they’re looking at is pink (“close” in a sense but still entirely false). The red mug is there; the evidence is there (it’s not just in that one person’s head that the mug is red), but not everyone can see it. For this reason, even though the evidence is there, it is not irrefutable for all mankind because not everyone can see that which is real. There is only one truth, regardless of what people believe or think is true.

      Anyone might think, well isn’t that convenient! And maybe it sounds like that, but to those who have witnessed and accepted the Holy Spirit (through faith that Christ satisfied God’s wrath against our sins once and for all through his sacrificial death and resurrection), the evidence is there–in the peace, assurance, joy, hope, gratitude, and all things true. The evidence might not be clear immediately; one might just feel a gentle tug at one’s heart, but there is always hope: “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” We can always continue to pray about any struggles, seek faithful mentors who can guide us, and be encouraged, knowing that God gives wisdom to all who asks (James 1:5). God is real, and the evidence is there, although not everyone might see it. If we desire to know the truth and do not close our hearts to God’s calling, then we will (perhaps slowly but) surely see the evidence that is true (and not just “in our head”), for God “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim 2:4). What good news for all!

      Sorry for the long post, but I truly hope this helps even in the slightest!

      I encourage you to continue praying in your walk with Christ about your questions so that your faith may be strengthened. You might also be interested in searching for a spiritually mature and knowledgeable mentor or pastor with whom you can talk. They are probably better equipped for answering these questions that you have. 🙂

    You know, people say we can’t judge another person’s heart and the state of their salvation; however we can be “fruit inspectors.” I liked that when I heard it. Great post! Bless you Brother.
