Countdown to Christmas Day 19

And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. 2 Samuel  7:12-13

Some might think this prophecy is about King Soloman, however when we take a deeper look it’s about the coming of our eternal King Jesus and his reign forever. We can reference

( Luke 1:32) “He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:”

As you know Jesus is from Davids bloodline fulfilling this prophecy (Matthew 1:1) Many times throughout the Bible Jesus is referenced as “David’s Son”.  Jesus himself sometimes referred to himself as the Son of David to let people know he was fulfilling the Messiah prophecies from the Old Testament. Jesus himself brought up the subject during his teachings in

(Mark 12:35-37) “And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David? For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool. David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

Jesus was trying to teach everyone that the title of “Son of David” was more symbolic to the fulfillment of the Messiah rather than literal. Unless people interpreted the scriptures correctly they would be confused. Let’s reference another scripture that confirms the fulfillment (Romans 1:3 “Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;”

And I (Jesus) will stablish the throne of his kingdom forever. We know Jesus will be our reigning King

(Revelation 5:13) “And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”

Jesus raised up from the seed of David, has conquered the world and will reign as King forever. He is the King of Kings, Lord of Lords (Revelations 19:16), the Alpha and Omega, Beginning and the End. (Revelations 22:13)

Christmas is a season to honor the birth of our King Lord Jesus Christ. Remember him and keep him in your hearts and minds. As promised Jesus is on the throne forever and will reestablish his Kingdom on Earth again A
