The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Genesis 49:10
While Jacob was blessing his sons, he actually prophesized about the coming of Jesus. More than hundreds of years before his birth. This prophecy had to come from God because at the present time it probably made no sense to anyone.
Sceptre was a rod or staff which represented “Royal Authority” and Judah refers to Jacobs Tribe (Israel). We know from (Matthew 1:1) that Jesus came from the bloodline of Jacob . The scepter(King) shall not depart from Judah (Israel) Basically this scripture is saying the King will forever reign from Israel.
The “Lawgiver” we know he is referring to God (Isaiah 33:22) “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.” God gave us his commandments or laws to follow, he is the ultimate “lawgiver”.
The word “Shiloh” is often confused because there was a city named this in Israel but in the instance “Shiloh” means “Messiah” which is Jesus Christ. As confirmed in John 20:31 “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
And unto him (Jesus) shall the gathering of the people (Christians) be. This prophecy foretold by Jacob announced the King of Israel will come from his bloodline, which we know was fulfilled by Jesus. So let’s remember to Keep Christ in Christmas as he is our King and Messiah. In Jesus name Amen
