But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Micah 5:2
This prophecy foretold by Micah back in 8th century B.C probably made no sense to them at the time, but as you examine it, you realize he was foretelling the prophecy of Jesus Christ.
Before Jesus the town of Bethlehem was small and probably thought of us insignificant. But as we learned this prophecy was fulfilled in (Matthew 2:1) “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem”
“Yet out of you (Israel) shall he (Jesus) come forth to me (God) that is to be ruler in Israel . As we learned Jesus came from the bloodline of Abraham who established Israel. God is proclaiming Jesus the King of his people.
1 Timothy 6:14-15 14that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15which He will bring about at the proper time– He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,…
As we examine the final part of the prophecy “Whose goings forth haven been from of old (Seed of Abraham), from everlasting (Son of God). We know Jesus fulfilled both of these prophesies by first his Earthly father Joseph coming from the bloodline of Abraham (Matthew 1:1) and being the Son of God (Matthew 3:17)
So let’s make the commitment to Keep Christ in Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our King and the salvation for our lives. In Jesus name Amen
